JOB SUMMARY: Administers the activities of the wellness center programs and activities designed to improve employee health and wellbeing. Recommends additions to programs that reflect the changing needs of the clients. Ensures productivity and financial goals are met. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education – College level preparation in related field preferred.
- Job Related skills –
- Knowledge of physical education and training
- Ability to perform and execute various exercises and instruct classes.
- Demonstrated leadership and management abilities with effective oral and written communication skills
- License, Registry or Certification – Certifications in Personal Training, Group Exercise, Sports Nutrition and Actively Aging are encouraged
- Prior Work Experience -
- Three years' experience in related field.
- Technical Training – Computer skills required.
- Physical and Mental Requirements -
- Position requires extended periods of walking and standing to include.
- Repeated bending, stooping and reaching.
- Transferring and lifting or supporting clients who may experience sudden weakness or inability to stand.
- Ability to maintain the level of physical fitness that will be able to instruct various classes for different fitness levels.
- The ability to comprehend and follow written or verbal instructions and directions and to instruct employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises employees and participates in all Wellness Center activities
- Demonstrates ability to deal with various ages and personality types and a diverse client base based on demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
- Ability to instruct and/or supervise various classes for different fitness levels.
- Oversees communication and implements staff meetings, making sure that all employees are fully aware of the daily task and programs.
- Implementing and Completion of various programs (Biggest Loser, fitness challenges, etc.) and setting up 5k runs
- Prepares workouts and personally works with individuals with their fitness needs and meal planning.
- Oversees safety procedures and security of employees
- Able to demonstrate to members how proper use of all equipment
Develops and implements marketing plans for Wellness Center
- Utilizes all available media outlets to informs community and MCHD staff of current and proposed activities.
- Administration, maintenance and daily postings to MCHD Website and Wellness Center social media outlet.
- Maintains contact with clients via text and calls
Administrative duties
- Overseeing, implementing contracts, exporting computer files and providing necessary monthly information for Medicare Advantage plans (Silver Sneakers, Silver and Fit)
- Plans and schedules daily and monthly activities for clients of the wellness center
- Performs clerical duties for all activities
- Performs data entry to sign up or renew client participation, including dues, receipts, etc.
Provides for quality assurance and improvement.
- Develops the quality assurance plan and determines areas to be monitored.
- Informs department of quality assurance activities.
- Provides reports and results to MCHD Quality Assurance committee.
Maintains department functions and supervises department personnel
- Initiates departmental policies, procedures and practice consistent with hospital policy.
- Establishes management control procedures to create efficient and effective provision of services of the Wellness Center
- Supervises and coordinates activities, including work routines and schedules. Selects, hires, develops evaluates, disciplines and terminates department employees in compliance with MCHD policy.
- Directs and coordinates department budget preparation and monitors the utilization of approved budgeted resources.
- Assures compliance with federal, state and other regulations pertaining to physical therapy operation.
- Provides service direct to clients while maintaining a positive public relations atmosphere.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS
- Interacts with Medical staff members and other department Directors on a continuous basis.
- Involves other departments in problem solving.
- Follows aseptic procedures and procedures for using precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handling potential infectious materials.
- Maintains HIPAA required and all other confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
- Follows MCHD Policies and Procedures and safety guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the department management staff.
