Job Summary
The Teacher’s Assistant supports classroom instruction by working closely with the lead teacher to enhance the learning environment for students. This role involves assisting with instructional activities, supervising students, preparing materials, and helping manage classroom behavior. The Teacher’s Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially.
Job Responsibilities
Assist the lead teacher with classroom instruction and activities
Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce lessons
Supervise students in the classroom, during lunch, recess, or transitions
Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment
Prepare and organize instructional materials and classroom supplies
Support students with special needs under teacher direction
Monitor student behavior and report concerns to the teacher
Assist with grading, data entry, and recordkeeping as needed
Attend staff meetings or training sessions as required
Job Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s degree or completion of a teacher assistant certification program preferred
Experience:
Previous experience working with children or in a classroom setting is a plus
Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, reliability, and a supportive attitude
Ability to follow teacher direction and school procedures
Basic computer skills and ability to assist with technology
