Neurotech Pharmaceuticals is an innovative biopharmaceutical company located in Cumberland, RI and Needham, MA, within the realm of Greater Boston’s vast biotechnology landscape. Our drug delivery platform - Encapsulated Cell Technology (ECT) - is designed to deliver genetically modified therapeutics to slow the progression of chronic retinal diseases. Our most advanced program is delivering a neurotrophic factor to treat the orphan disease Macular Telangiectasia Type 2 (MacTel). 

We are seeking a Senior Director of Field Reimbursement to support the commercial success of Neurotech by leading our field reimbursement team to eliminate access and reimbursement barriers for providers and patients. 

 

The Position:

Reporting to the Head of Market Access, this role will sustain a high-performing team of experienced access & reimbursement leaders to support health care providers, accounts and patients as appropriate.  This role will require a strategic vision to drive the success of our reimbursement team, as well as the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions.  The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to play a hands-on role in supporting launch excellence.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Execute a reimbursement strategy that addresses the needs of our collective target audience, including physicians, office staff, sites of care and billing.
  • Lead a team of the Field Reimbursement Directors to provide in-depth access and reimbursement support to healthcare providers and administering sites of care.  
  • Provide strategic thought leadership to the field access & reimbursement team by fostering a collaborative culture, growing and developing team members and inspiring excellence and execution for our patients.
  • Escalate payer coverage or payment issues to the Directors of National Accounts team, providing detailed specifics on issues, steps attempted to resolve, and identify key items that need addressing with the payer.
  • Ensure the team is addressing access barriers by strategically working with customers and accounts to solve the most complex patient access issues through all facets of the reimbursement cycle.
  • Interface with healthcare professionals, including their ancillary staff, HUB coordinators, Market Access team, and various Channel Partners on complex access and reimbursement cases.  
  • Spend time in the field with regional directors and managers in order to support individual development, help with issue resolution as well as provide coaching, direction and feedback.
  • Partner with Head of Market Access and Trade & Distribution to optimize site-of-care strategy and provider logistics for therapy delivery.

 

Education and Skills Requirements:  

  • BA/BS required, MBA/MS preferred, or comparable experience.
  • 10+ years of pharma/biotech or related experience.
  • 3 years of direct experience in managing field reimbursement teams.
  • Familiarity with health insurance claim forms, explanation of benefits, prior authorization forms, and EMR/Practice Mgmt. systems, to troubleshoot cases where claims submission or documentation errors may occur.
  • Experience in managing access complexities associated with a new to market medication.
  • Experience with specialty pharmacy products / products acquired through Specialty Pharmacy networks.
  • Demonstrated experience in helping to educate on reimbursement processes (inc. detailed knowledge of benefit verifications, prior authorization, appeals, denials, letters of medical necessity, pre-determination requirement.
  • Experience with in a complex Site of Care network, rare/orphan diseases, IV, oral, Hospital, Buy-and-Bill and Medicare Part D products; experience and strong understanding of building and launching reimbursement networks for  cell and gene therapies in rare diseases.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, highly visible and dynamic environment is critical; able to work effectively with ambiguity and incomplete information.
