Director of Grants Development (PA)

Location: Canandaigua, NY

The Director of Grants Development is responsible for providing technical assistance to the FLCC community to secure external funding to support the college's mission and vision. They will coordinate FLCC's efforts to obtain grant funding by the identification and development of viable proposals for external funding of programs which address educational priorities and goals. They will provide technical assistance to administrators and staff regarding potential funding sources, strategies and preparation of proposals and budgets. They will plan and implement a comprehensive grant development program to include both public and private funding sources commensurate with institutional strategies, priorities, goals, current and future activities. Work requires a considerable knowledge of planning and scheduling, program development, curriculum, program evaluation, grant writing and potential funding sources.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree required.

Experience: Three to four years of experience in successful grant development, grant proposal writing, grant application completion, program and budget development, and/or scheduling in the field of education, workforce development or related fields.

Special Skills: Self-motivated. Exceptional skill in research, synthesis of information from various sources, writing and editing needed to develop successful grant proposals for outside funds. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to provide leadership and work collaboratively. Knowledge of and skill in long-range and short-range planning, program development. Ability to translate priorities into programs that have a high probability of external funding and coordinating efforts college-wide to do so. Knowledge of potential funding sources. Skill in time management, creative and practical problem solving and prioritizing; ability to meet deadlines under pressure. Ability to develop effective working relationships with administrators, faculty, and staff and to motivate staffto pursue grant opportunities. Knowledge of, respect for, and successful engagement with members of other cultures or backgrounds.

Essential Functions:

  1. Actively seek, identify and recognize external opportunities that present viable funding opportunities to match FLCC priorities and search requests from various internal stakeholders.

  2. Provide technical assistance and leadership to staff, administrators and executive cabinet regarding potential funding sources, resource development issues and strategies to address institutional priorities and educational program needs.; identify funding sources, develop viable projects, programs and partnerships to meet these needs as aligned with stated priorities and goals.

  3. Coordinate campus-wide efforts, and establish effective networks with representatives from other colleges, school districts, businesses, industries, federal, state and local agencies, as well as private and corporation foundation funding sources, and/or work with existing networks to improve outcomes for FLCC.

  4. Research, interpret, and disseminate information on federal, state, local and private funding resources within the FLCC community. Create and maintain systems for dissemination of information within FLCC about external funding opportunities and other grants-related information.

  5. Collaborate with leadership to develop a strategic plan for the submission of grant applications. Create and maintain overall grant program calendar and timeline for the submission of applications.

  6. Provide a full spectrum of assistance to faculty and staff in the planning, writing, program design, budget development, and evaluation of grants; facilitate and coordinate the grants review process. Schedule, develop and present workshops; instruct staff and administrators regarding funding guidelines. Conduct one-on-one training and group workshops to develop and write grant proposals. Coordinate review process for proposals; mediate conflicts between grant development team members.

  7. Create, write and edit components of grant proposals. Review and/or prepare budget narratives and summaries for grant proposals. Coordinate college-wide review process for proposals. Track proposal submissions and progress.

  8. Coordinate administrative and contractual matters relevant to the acceptance and reporting of funded projects. Serve as the principle contact and negotiator for matters related to grants development and approvals. Serve as a liaison with funding source program officers, resource developers nationally, and with community organizations.

  9. Present oral and written reports as needed to government or private funding organizations.

  10. Maintain a grants library to include past applications and related materials.

  11. Hire, plan, direct, review and critique the work of external grant writers developing proposals.

  12. Related work as required, including written correspondence, phone contacts, and FLC? Foundation events and meetings.

  13. Manage all StartUP New York activities.

  14. Flexible working hours including evenings and some weekends.

Benefits and salary range:

  1. Competitive starting salary in the range of $60,000 to $65,000 and is commensurate with qualifications
