About the Role:
The Machine Spot Welder plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by operating and maintaining spot welding machinery to join metal components with precision and consistency. This position ensures that welded assemblies meet strict quality standards and production specifications, contributing directly to the overall efficiency and safety of the production line. The role requires a keen eye for detail to detect any welding defects and the ability to make necessary adjustments to equipment settings. The Machine Spot Welder collaborates closely with quality control and production teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize welding processes. Ultimately, this position supports the delivery of high-quality products while maintaining a safe and productive work environment in the Wadsworth facility.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience operating spot welding machinery or similar manufacturing equipment.
- Basic understanding of welding principles and metal fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in welding or manufacturing technology.
- Experience with automated or robotic spot welding systems.
- Familiarity with quality control processes and inspection tools.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and overtime as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and monitor spot welding machines according to production schedules and specifications.
- Inspect welded components for quality and adherence to engineering drawings and standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on welding equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Adjust machine settings to accommodate different materials and thicknesses as required.
- Collaborate with supervisors and quality control personnel to identify and resolve welding defects or process inefficiencies.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records in compliance with company policies.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment during operations.
Skills:
The required skills enable the Machine Spot Welder to accurately set up and operate welding machines, ensuring each weld meets quality standards. Attention to detail is essential for inspecting welds and identifying any defects early in the process. Reading technical drawings allows the welder to understand specifications and adjust machine parameters accordingly. Preferred skills such as mechanical troubleshooting and familiarity with automated systems enhance the ability to maintain equipment and improve production efficiency. Effective communication and teamwork skills support collaboration with quality control and production teams to resolve issues and maintain a safe work environment.
