Role Summary: The CDL A Truck Driver role is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of materials using a commercial truck. This role requires specialized knowledge and skills to maintain regulatory compliance and ensure timely deliveries. By delivering on schedule, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring proper handling of cargo, this position supports the Company’s commitment to reliable service and safe operations.

Requirements

  • Understand and adhere to all Company policies, processes and procedures in accordance with the Employee Manual, Safety Manual, Department Manuals, etc.
  • Maintain valid CDL and DOT Med Cards.
  • Safely operate a commercial vehicle in accordance with Company, Federal, State and local requirements to transport materials between designated locations.
  • Plan and follow efficient routes for timely deliveries while ensuring compliance with all traffic, industry, and farm regulations.
  • Safely load and unload tanker (if applicable) at pick-up and delivery locations, following proper procedures to prevent spills, contamination, or hazards.
  • Ensure tankers are properly sealed, pressurized, or vented, as required by the nature of the materials.
  • Communicate with Dispatch, customers, management, and law enforcement effectively.
  • Adhere to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations including hours-of-service rules, vehicle inspection requirements, and liquid material handling, when applicable.
  • Follow all safety protocols for transporting, handling, and delivering materials, especially those classified as feed.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tractor, trailer, tanker, and related equipment, documenting any issues or maintenance needs.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and brakes to ensure safe operation.
  • Maintain accurate records, including logbooks, delivery tickets, and any documentation required for compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or spills promptly and accurately, following company procedures.
  • Interact professionally with clients or facility staff at customer and delivery locations, addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Ensure a positive experience for clients through on-time delivery and courteous communication.
  • Able to pass pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug/alcohol tests under DOT regulations.
  • Attend all Company meetings and training courses as required. Be willing to assist in the training of others as may be required.


Key Requirements:

- Valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement.

- 2+ years of verifiable commercial driving experience, preferably in agriculture, liquid waste, or feed transportation.

- Clean MVR and safety record.

- Familiarity with DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs).

- Ability to operate and maneuver tanker trailers in various settings.

- Strong understanding of safety practices and procedures in liquid hauling.

- Professional and courteous communication with dispatchers and customers.

- Willingness to work variable shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

- Ability to read, understand, and maintain detailed delivery documentation and records.


Physical Abilities:

  •  Ability to pass DOT Physical.
  •  70-degree field of vision in each eye.
  •  Ability to distinguish signals on traffic signals.
  •  Ability to hear a forced whisper at 5 feet (with or without hearing aids).
  •  Ability to climb in and out of a truck multiple times a day.
  •  Capable of sitting, standing, walking, and crouching for long periods.
  •  Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (hoses, fittings, and equipment).
  •  Able to maneuver liquid-filled tanker, which has a shifting center of gravity.
  •  Able to handle sudden stops, turns, and changing road conditions.
  •  Familiar with braking techniques for tankers (to prevent sloshing).
  •  Understanding of load dynamics and properly securing and inspecting vehicle/equipment.
  •  Capable of driving for long hours while maintaining focus.
  •  Must comply with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations to prevent fatigue.
  •  Able to react quickly to hazardous road conditions.
  •  Familiar with emergency shutdown procedures for leaks or spills.
