Job Description:SGS is currently seeking candidates to submit their applications to our client. The positions are contract positions located in various locations in British Colombia. The contractors would be contacted for work on a as needed basis (it is not full-time work). The contractor needs to be an independent contractor.
SGS is currently looking for Coating and Painting Inspectors – NACE Level 2 & 3 for some ad-hoc contract work at various sites and shops across the province of British Columbia.
Scope of work:
- Prepare quality plans
- Prepare audit plans
- Prepare Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), and Quality Control (QC) check-sheets
- Contribute to the preparation of technical and quality specifications
- Provide Subject Matter Expert advice pertaining to coating work. The advice may need to be sealed in accordance with Engineering and Geoscientist British Columbia (EGBC) guidelines
- Perform audits and/or capability assessments
- Review supplier’s Quality Assurance/Management Plan
- Review supplier’s Inspection and Test/Control Plans (i.e., ITPs), including QC check-sheets and sign off as required
- Perform technical problem-solving studies
- Perform supplier monitoring and surveillance inspections, including reporting
- Witness tests (e.g. type tests, qualification tests, sample tests, etc.) and prepare reports
- Review and/or accept test reports
- Perform inspections or tests
- Initiate non-conformance reports with contractors
- Monitor supplier non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective actions
- Perform failure analysis
- Review quality reports
- Perform surface preparation and coatings inspections (NACE/AMPP certified).
- Assess galvanizers and/or inspect galvanized materials
- Other Quality Assurance and related services
Key deliverables under a Work Order may include, and are not limited to, the following:
- Proposals, including estimates, and resumes of key personnel (e.g. auditor, inspector, technician, etc.)
- Evaluation reports
- Quality Plans
- Inspection and Test Plan (ITP), and Quality Control (QC) check-sheets
- Inspection and audit plans
- Audit reports
- Flash reports
- Inspection reports
- Surveillance list / reports
- Non-conformance reports
- Issues / deficiency list
- Reviewed quality reports
- Progress reports
- Memos
- Must have a NACE Level 2 or 3 certification. (AMPP Certified Coating Inspector)
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years inspection experience in power plants and vendor surveillance at Power Plant relevant equipment manufacturing facilities.
- 5- 10 years of industry experience.
- Quality Assurance and Control Experience at Power Stations would be an asset.
- Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
- Candidates must be proficient in using several types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).
- Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Pay range is $65 to 70$/ hour depending on experience +$0.68/km (up to 60 kms round trip are non-chargeable to client)
- Work hours: 8 to 10 hours per day, Monday to Friday. (Day and Night shifts)
- If the inspection site is beyond round trip 200 kms from Inspector place of residence then Inspector will receive subsistence allowance (CAD $150/day) toward the expense of their board and lodgings. Inspector will need to provide 2 proofs of residence.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Additional Information:
- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday – day and night shifts.
- Location: We are hiring locally but some travel might be required.
