At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work.  The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday.  However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.

Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home 2 days per week, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.

 

Role:
This role reports to the Corporate Audit Section Manager as part of the HME Corporate Audit (CA) team.

The purpose of CA is to support the Honda Motor Europe (HME) C.O & President in improving Honda’s overall European business as well as for the Africa Middle East (AME) business operation, by providing independent objective assurance of the adequacy of control and the management of risk within HME, it’s branches and subsidiary companies in the EAME region.  It helps HME & AME to accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve effectiveness of risk management controls & governance process. The CA function aims to challenge and test current operational processes, champion best practice and be a catalyst for business improvement. 

As a Corporate Audit Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the pre and post-audit processes. Pre-audit, this will involve carrying out the required preparations, reviewing the “As Is” situation by evaluating a variety of business function operations, in line with the audit timeframe and internal KPI’s. Post-audit, this will involve making recommendations and the timely follow ups to meet the audit finding closure targets. In addition, your active participation in during on site audits may be necessary. Your support will enable the CA team to focus on coaching, especially for the AME region. 

Ideally, you will need to have a good level of business and commercial acumen to support the different steps in the Audit process.

The successful candidate will quickly become an integral member of this small team as the necessary skills and experience are developed. 

This role may require travel within the region (EAME).

Main Responsibilities:

  • Proactively support for the delivery of Business Effectiveness & Efficiency audits and Honda Corporate Governance audits, for all operational and functional areas within Honda’s European and AME region (EAME). This involves contacting the auditees for pre-audit documentation, assisting in preparing audit schedule, arranging pre-audit stakeholder meetings, as well as pre audit and final audit meetings to ensure everything is in place for the audit.
  • Provide support during specific times the SOx audit process, by undertaking testing of SOx controls and identifying any deficiencies in controls.
  • Prepare reports for submission to Honda Motor Audit unit as well as reports to Honda Motor Executive Council & Board of Directors
  • Prepare detailed audit reports including recommendations for improvement and proactively following up to meet the audit finding closure targets.
  • Review business processes and contribute towards on process optimisation.
  • Maintain audit analysis methodology and identify areas for improvement.
  • Accurately log and actively manage audit closure rates.
  • Assist preparation of reports for the Regional Operating Board, Honda Motor Audit Division (Global Audit Meeting) etc.
  • Assist in updating the corporate audit risk matrix.
  • Help with consultancy/supplier audits when required
  • Support to regularly review and update audit checklist when required.

Qualifications, skills and experience:
Required

  • Comprehensive understanding of the normal business processes.
  • Skilled verbal and written communicator at all levels within the company with the ability to present and discuss audit findings with senior management.
  • Demonstrated capability to develop and maintain business relationships.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritising skills with the ability to work individually to deliver specific improvements and/or projects.
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding specific audit findings.
  • Strong focus on detail and ensuring accuracy in data and reporting documents. 

Desirable

  • Formal audit qualification or working towards a qualification.
