This Opportunity

WSP has a career opportunity for a Senior Program Manager in support of the FEMA Risk MAP Program. We are looking for a dedicated professional with a proven history in client service management to offer subject matter expertise and leadership in technical and regulatory compliance. This individual will remotely collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the U.S., primarily in service of the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Your Impact

  • Develop and implement overall strategies that align with the objectives and evolution of FEMA's Risk MAP program. This involves guiding multi-disciplinary teams through a range of program needs, which is distinct from a project manager's focus on a single project.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and primary point of contact for FEMA, internal teams, and external partners, including state entities and other federal agencies.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate program-level risks that could impact the success of multiple engineering and mapping projects. Track and resolve issues as they arise throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Monitor program budgets and Earned Value (EV) indices, and coordinate with senior leadership and project managers on maintaining strong project performance. Produce performance reports for FEMA and track progress against program goals and defined metrics.
  • Advise team members with situational guidance regarding FEMA’s systems and processes, as well as FEMA's standards and technical specifications for flood hazard modeling and mapping. Monitor compliance with federal laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Engineering, Planning, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in discipline with prior FEMA and GIS experience.
  • Demonstrated technical competence leading and reviewing technical reports, mapping efforts, and project scopes with a high degree of complexity.
  • Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with a range of stakeholders, including clients, community officials, and technical staff.
  • Professional licensure/certification in the areas of GIS or floodplain management.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
