Requisition Job Description
Operations Support Specialist is responsible for modeling and engineering Transmission and Distribution capital, O&M, Distribution Automation (DA), and Network Underground Services (NUS) projects in GE Energy Management Systems (DSCADA) and Siemens Spectrum Energy Management Systems (EMS). The role supports LTE conversion projects, real-time customer requests, and ongoing modeling and commissioning efforts. It also includes maintaining operational databases and developing system switching diagrams. The position requires coordination across multiple departments and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Model Transmission and Distribution capital, O&M, DA, NUS, and LTE conversion projects in DSCADA and EMS for GPC and ITS participants.
- Support ongoing modeling, checkout, and commissioning of projects with field engineers, DA technicians, and control centers.
- Respond in real-time to customer requests from the Transmission Control Center (TCC), Distribution Control Centers (DCCs), and field personnel.
- Perform DSCADA system stop/starts to apply database updates.
- Update and maintain the STOMP Operations database related to Power Cascade, new facilities, and associated information.
- Develop, modify, and update Transmission System Switching diagrams.
- Provide backup assistance to the Operations Support Communications team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5 years or more of related experience preferred.
- Ability to obtain Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Insider Threat Program (ITP) security clearance required.
Preferences
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering is a plus.
- Proficiency with GE and/or Siemens Energy Management Systems preferred.
- Experience with SCADA systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of SCADA hardware systems is a plus.
