About the Department

Turn ideas into impact: Help us build the tools that power Louisiana’s workforce.

Programming with purpose: Use your tech and people skills to make government work smarter.

About this Job

Ever wish you could take someone’s big idea, wave your ‘programming wand,’ and turn it into an actual system that works? That’s exactly what we do. The Applications and Data Management team is looking for an entry-level innovator who loves translating vision into reality — and maybe even enjoys explaining tech without putting people to sleep. If you can bridge the gap between data and people (and can smile when someone says ‘I just need a button here’), then this is your chance to launch your career and make government work smarter for Louisiana.

About the Applications and Data Management Team

The Applications and Data Management division of State Civil Service serves as the bridge between people, data, and technology. Our team oversees the collection, analysis, and reporting of workforce data that informs decisions across state government. We also manage the storage of the department’s records and reports, and coordinate education efforts that help agencies use data with confidence.

Beyond data, we design, support, and improve custom in-house applications that serve our department, human resources offices statewide, and the public through the State Civil Service website. Every project is a chance to translate an idea into a tool that makes government work smarter, faster, and more transparent.

We are seeking candidates in informatics, website development, computer science or data science — professionals who can connect technology with real-world needs. Ideal candidates will bring curiosity, collaboration, and technical problem-solving skills to help design systems that make a measurable impact on Louisiana’s workforce.

An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies:

  • Championing Continuous Improvement
  • Focusing on Customers
  • Learning Actively
  • Leveraging Technology
