Position Overview

The Accounting Clerk will assist in ensuring that the company receives payment for goods and services offered to clients and will be responsible for monitoring the outflow of capital for the company.

Key Responsibilities


Accounts Receivable 

· Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.

· Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer credit memos.

· Creates invoices according to company practices; submits invoices to customers.

· Maintains and updates customer files, including name or address changes, mergers, or mailing attentions.

· Collaborates with Accounting Manager to draft correspondence for standard past-due accounts and collections, identify delinquent accounts by reviewing files, and contact delinquent accountholders to request payment.

· Creates reports regarding the current status of customer accounts as requested. 

· Research customer discrepancies and past-due amounts with the assistance of Accounting Manager. 

· Collaborates with Accounting Manager to reconcile accounts receivable on a periodic basis. Assists in generating monthly billing statements based on the general ledger.

· Assists Accounting Manager/Controller in reconciling revenue accounts each month.

· Copies, files, and retrieves materials for accounts receivable as needed.

· Relays changes of information to appropriate employees.

· Other related duties as assigned.

Accounts Payable 

· Facilitates payment of vendors, which may include verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies.

· Ensures outstanding obligations are credited upon payment, identifies discount opportunities, and issues purchase order amendments or stop-payment orders as needed.

· Assists with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly vendor statements and transactions.

· Calculates and reports sales tax based on paid invoices.

· Assists Accounting Manager/Controller in reconciling expense accounts each month.

· Copies, files, and retrieves materials for accounts payable as needed.

· Relays changes of information to appropriate employees.

· Other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills & Qualifications

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

· Excellent critical thinking skills.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as other accounting software programs.

· Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers. 

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 


Education & Experience

· At least two (2) years of related experience required.

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

o Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred. 


Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds frequently, stand for extended periods, bend and reach to access materials, and walk short distances throughout the workday. TPC is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.
