POSITION TITLE: Marketing & Communications Coordinator
SUPERVISOR TITLE: Marketing & Communications Leadership Team
DEPARTMENT: Marketing
FLSA STATUS: Full-Time Salary/Exempt
SALARY: $45k-$52k
The Marketing & Communications Coordinator is responsible for creating and executing assigned internal and external communications and associated marketing materials for various stakeholder groups including parents (customers), donors, internal audiences (staff and Board members), partner schools (clients), and the community at large.
This position helps maintain the brand voice and visual identity of AYS throughout several communication and marketing initiatives, including social media. This position also assists departmental leadership with marketing functions, and may provide limited intern mentorship.
Business Operations
- Assist in the production and curation of visual and written content and messaging for social media, e-newsletters, blogs, parent communications, marketing collateral, etc.
- Work alongside departmental leadership in the development and implementation of social media content and regularly manage the brand’s social media accounts and digital footprint
- Assist in the facilitation of site-based program requests for event materials, flyers, signage, and other marketing or communications items
- Gather media for social media and marketing collateral by site visits or through digital tools
- Manage organization-wide communications projects such as handbooks, updates, etc.
- Facilitate the communication and delivery of stakeholder surveys
- Work alongside vendors and departmental leadership to order branded materials
- Support earned media efforts with writing and distributing press releases under the direction of departmental and executive leadership teams
- Work with internal teams to support the planning, design and execution of events for various stakeholder groups
- Assist departmental leadership with:
- Executing a variety marketing campaigns
- Designing and updating web content
- Establishing marketing and communications policies and procedures
- Identifying common pain points for customers to inform communications
- Assist other team members and personnel with various stakeholder-centric brand tasks and help maintain project tracking lists and associated project folders
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Leadership
- Assist in the provision of guidance and support to departmental interns
- Crosstrain various departments on marketing and communications best practices under the direction and supervision of departmental leadership
- Uphold the AYS brand by exhibiting professionalism and empathy in both written and verbal communications
Administrative
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled team meetings
- Assist in the representation of AYS at community events (on occasion as assigned)
- Visit and assist at program sites monthly, and as necessary
Compliance and Training
- Support youth development leaders by helping to ensure programs have the necessary branded signage required for CCDF compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or non-profit management as well as one (1) to three (3) years of experience in a related field is preferred
- Proficiency with a variety of marketing tactics including print, digital, advertising, video, social, grassroots, omni-channel campaigns, or other similar non-profit marketing programs
- Proficient with Mailchimp or similar email marketing platform
- Proficient with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, and LinkedIn
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint
- Experience with Canva or similar graphic design platform preferred
- Experience with website management platforms a plus
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus
- Experience with photography/videography and editing a plus
