Station 11 is home to both an Engine and Truck company
Station 12 operates a second Engine company
All units are cross-staffed to effectively respond to a wide range of emergencies.
In 2024, the department responded to 3,048 calls for service, maintaining a manageable call volume that supports both operational readiness and the well-being of its firefighters.
About Our CommunityLocated at the southern tip of Solano County, Benicia sits just 30 miles north of San Francisco. With Interstate 780 and Interstate 680 running through the city, highway safety and traffic incident response are key components of our operations. We also provide mutual and automatic aid throughout Solano and Contra Costa Counties, including to neighboring Vallejo, and deploy a Type 1 OES engine statewide when needed.
A True All-Risk AgencyBenicia Fire is an “All-Risk” department, with firefighters cross-trained in technical rescue disciplines, including water rescue. We actively participate in county-wide HazMat and Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams. All front-line apparatus deliver non-transporting Advanced Life Support (ALS) care.
Culture & Career BalanceOur members enjoy a strong sense of community and we strive for a healthy work-life balance—supported by a sustainable call volume and well-staffed shifts. Firefighters are encouraged to pursue professional growth through technical and promotional training, while still having the time and support to maintain their personal and family lives.
This balanced approach to emergency response, development, and wellness creates a supportive environment where firefighters can thrive both on and off the job.
