The incumbent will manage the day-to-day functions of the Cultural Affairs team to ensure timely and thorough execution of Events DC cultural programs, partnerships and community/cultural grant programs. Responsible for fostering and advancing the organization's commitment to cultural enrichment, diversity, and community partnership. This role is integral to shaping and overseeing initiatives that engage local and global communities, celebrate cultural diversity, and promote inclusivity. The incumbent will cultivate and maintain relationships with community leaders, local/ global stakeholders, organizations, and DC residents from all eight wards The incumbent will work closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, and the broader community to develop, implement, and evaluate programs, grants and partnerships that align with the organization’s mission and values. The incumbent reports directly to the Deputy Chief of Staff & Cultural Affairs.

Responsibilities

Cultural Affairs & Strategy 

  • Lead the development and implementation of cultural initiatives, public programs, and strategic priorities that align with the organization’s mission and values in all eight wards. 
  • Serve as an advisor on matters of cultural equity, creative economy, and inclusive arts practices.
  • Identify, initiate, and deepen relationships with various community partners/stakeholders.

Grants Management 

  • Oversee all aspects of the grants program, including development, application processes, review panels, compliance, reporting, evaluation and grantee recognition event. 
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures for the Authority’s grant programs. 
  • Maintain grant digital platform with TMD. 
  • Ensure equitable grantmaking practices and expand support for underrepresented artists and organizations. 
  • Execute community grant program marketing strategy 
  • Develop funding models that address systemic challenges in community funding 
  • Liaise with DC Office of Partnership and Grant Services, as necessary 
  • Stay up to date with grant program best practices and industry standards

Partnerships & Development 

  • Cultivate and manage strategic partnerships with local, national, and international stakeholders, including arts organizations, public agencies, funders, and private-sector partners. 
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Partnership team to identify and secure funding opportunities and sponsorships for Community and International Programming. 
  • Represent the organization at public events, forums, and conferences to elevate its visibility and influence.

Leadership & Operations 

  • Supervise and mentor a team of senior program managers, program managers, and grant officers. 
  • Develop and manage performance metrics aligned with program goals. 
  • Ensure compliance with legal, financial, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Support and assist in refinement of Authority’s methodologies, policies, procedures and approaches across team functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree Business Administration or related field. 
  • Seven or more years of contracts/grant management. 
  • Seven or more years of management or supervisory level.
  • Seven or more years of community organizing or other related experience. 
  • Budget management 
  • Familiarity with the Washington, DC neighborhoods and communities across all eight wards and surrounding properties within the Events DC and the Sports and Entertainment portfolio, which includes the Robert F. Kennedy Stadium (RFK)/ DC Armory campus (Wards 6/7) and the Entertainment and Sports Arena (ESA) and Gateway DC pavilion/RISE Center (Ward 8) 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (any other software programs/contact management, etc.)
