What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Fleet & Procurement, the Procurement Specialist will support the Procurement team in researching and purchasing products.
Responsibilities:
- Procure goods and services for assigned locations, supporting maintenance and repair of company and customer equipment, in line with OEM and recommended specifications.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best pricing, terms, quality, and delivery.
- Research and identify alternate suppliers to reduce costs, mitigate supply chain risks, and ensure continuity of supply.
- Issue purchase orders; maintain and update accurate records in accordance with company procurement and financial policies.
- Analyze inventory levels, lead times, demand trends, and usage to maintain appropriate stocking levels.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (maintenance, operations, fleet, etc.) to forecast needs, define specifications, and prioritize procurement.
- Partner with Inventory Manager and site personnel to ensure that parts are physically received, accounted for, and correctly matched in the ERP system.
- Monitor vendor performance (on-time delivery, quality, pricing, compliance), report findings, and initiate corrective actions as necessary.
- Work with Finance to review, reconcile purchase orders, receipts, invoicing, and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with vendor onboarding, ensuring all requirements (insurance certificates, compliance, documentation) are met.
- Track and report on key performance indicators, including cost savings, supplier lead times, vendor performance, aging purchase orders, returns / cores, and similar metrics.
- Recommend and support process improvements: procurement workflows, system enhancements, policy updates, tools, automation.
- Demonstrate accountability by aligning decisions and actions with REMPREX’s mission, core values, safety, and operational objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain, especially in a role involving negotiation and vendor management.
- Strong analytical skills: ability to examine cost, lead-time, quality, risk, and make sound procurement decisions.
- Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to build strong relationships with vendors and internal teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Experience using ERP systems for procurement, inventory control, and order tracking.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field.
- Experience in procurement / supply chain in the intermodal, heavy equipment, transportation, or related field.
- Experience using NetSuite ERP
- Familiarity with metrics reporting, continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Knowledge of OEM parts / equipment specifications and vendor qualification processes.
