Position Description:
Provide technical support to the SAV team. Personnel must be experienced meteorologists in the DOE or NNSA complex for at least 5 years specialized in regulations, procedures, and polices; have experience managing a meteorological monitoring network (mesonet); and have experience with atmospheric plume dispersion modeling.
Duties:
- Conduct up to two DMSC Assist Visits to DOE facilities annually. Assist Visits examine a DOE Site’s Meteorology Program that support numerous critical functions of a Site to include
- Meteorological Monitoring, Emergency Response (Consequence Assessment),
- Environmental Monitoring, and
- - Annual Environmental Compliance Reporting that must meet numerous DOE, Federal, State, and industry standard requirements and guidelines.
Deliverables:
- Assist Visit Documentation (for visits conducted)
- Preparation of documentation and pre-visit coordination
- On-site pre- and closeout presentations to Site staff
- Final Assist Visit Report for Site
Special Considerations:
-The support person may:
- Be a Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM) by the American Meteorological Society (AMS)
- Have experience in leading meteorological program reviews
- Have extensive experience with DOE, DOE/NNSA, and nuclear utility meteorological Orders, Standards, Guides, Procedures, and Policies
- Have experience in writing meteorological standards, guides, procedures, and policies
