Description

The Packaging Machine Operator will ensure smooth production flow, uphold hygiene standards, and deliver consistent product quality. This role involves operating and maintaining machinery used in the manufacturing of hair care products such as gels. The Packaging machine operator must be skilled, have attention to detail and be safety conscious. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Starts up, operates, changes over, cleans and/or shuts down any machinery, conveyors, and/or other related equipment in assigned area, in accordance with standard procedures
• Monitors machine performance to optimize line efficiency by monitoring productivity to meet daily output targets
• Working with the supervisor to coordinate activities of employees to assure the necessary level of line efficiency by advising them of line starts and stops, equipment failures, etc
• Performs in process quality checks to inspect periodically for proper fill, seal and lot code print and accuracy
• Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hygiene protocols
• Troubleshoot equipment and relieve jams in/on assigned equipment issues such as inaccurate fills or sensor faults and escalating to maintenance when needed
• Follow all PPE and safety guidelines
• Maintaining a fully operational, safe, and tidy work environment
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations
• Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Basic computer and report writing skills
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy equipment
• Excellent time-management and interpersonal skills
• Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be well organized and capable of prioritizing tasks

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1-2 years of previous work experience in a similar role
• Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices 

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking through the plant
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds
• Use of gloves, hairnets and other GMP required items
