Description

To provide nursing care to the residents as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with established facility protocol, local, state and federal regulations.  To lead and/or direct CNAs in the delivery of direct resident care.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assess the overall status of the residents and document in the medical record.
2. Monitor the residents’ activity and provide nursing care in accordance with physician orders, care plans, local, state and federal regulations as well as established facility protocol.
3. Coordinate, prepare for and assist with new admissions, transfers and discharges.
4. Communicate with residents, family members, other disciplines and health care professionals regarding the status of the resident.
5. Administer medications and treatments and document accordingly.
6. Schedule job assignments and duties for C.N.A.
7. Be observant for changes in a resident’s condition and notify the Supervisor (if applicable), physician and family.
8. Visit all residents at various times during your shift.
9. Supervise, and assist with the feeding of residents and administer the tube feedings.
10. Carry out all physician orders, including making out lab slips, x-ray requests and M.A.R.
11. Provide routine nursing documentation as per established facility protocol.
12. Oversee the Restorative Staff and their duties.
13. Document a comprehensive Restorative note on each resident on the program monthly.
14. Observe/monitor restorative staff documentation and resident’s progress weekly.
15. Oversee all weights within the facility per policy.
16. Attend the High Risk and Therapy meeting weekly.
17. Assist with M.D.S. and Total Care Plan meetings, as indicated.

Requirements

Must have current Mississippi RN or LPN license.
