Job Description:

The role involves providing complex analytical support and expertise to Credit leadership through research, data gathering, developing, and executing risk identification. Includes responsibility to evaluate potential losses while developing high-impact solutions to minimize or eliminate risk and lead improvements to current processes and procedures and ensures compliance with relevant rules and regulations. Important factor is the ability to interpret Credit Information, identify key drivers, practices and trends, and identify risk based on the information and data insights. Ideally, would be involved in proposing measures to address the risk issues to enhance the Credit Risk Management.

About the Team:

Advisory & Portfolio Intelligence operates under the umbrella of the enterprise-wide Credit Administration & Infrastructure Organization (CA&I). The team actively collaborates and partners within the broader Credit Risk framework, drawing upon our collective credit institutional knowledge

This involves a range of activities: from credit risk monitoring alongside our Credit leadership, to enhancing the capabilities of our existing monitoring and reporting through collaboration with the Business Intelligence & Risk Reporting (BI&RR) team and ensuring robust risk identification and controls within our reporting in partnership with the broader Credit Administration & Infrastructure (CA&I team.

The Advisory & Portfolio Intelligence team is responsible for -

  • Identifying emerging risks and recommending mitigants.

  • Partnering with credit, business and segment leaders to provide portfolio insights.

  • Aggregating insights for 1LOD and 2LOD Leadership & Committees.

  • Monitoring credit key indicators across all levels.

  • Prioritizing use-case development for new reporting.

The team performs complex data analysis, prepare technical reports by examining and summarizing the data and assists in requirement creation to support business initiatives. Furthermore, it involves expertise of credit risk analytics through research, data interpretation and deeper understanding of Credit Risk and risk frameworks for creating complex risk evaluation and strategies to address evaluation results

Key Deliverables

Essential Functions

  • Data Analysis - Sources, compiles, and interprets data. Performs analysis for risk trends and data discrepancies, effectively communicates analysis output

  • Determines business needs - through complex analysis and reporting. Develops strategies to achieve company and department goals, and communicates these through the use of specifications, project plans, or other forms of documentation

  • Identifying Risk - Creates and implements complex methods of risk evaluation. Develops expert strategies or solutions to address evaluation results, monitoring to ensure developed solutions are effective. May create models or simulation scenarios to test risk conditions.

  • Reporting - Produces reports based on data analysis, company trends, and risk factors. Conveys patterns, problems, and areas of improvement. Enables insight into potential losses and mitigation of identified risks through reporting activities.

  • Operational Support - Supports business processes through a variety of escalated operational tasks. Develops, implements, and ensures continuous improvement of procedures. Acts as a resource to management and other associates, including production of documentation, presentations, or other materials to educate on risk policies and procedures

  • Develop, maintain, and provide regular status reporting and coordination with Advisory & Portfolio Intelligence leadership

Skills and Qualification

The person in this role should have strong risk management expertise, deeper understanding of credit risk, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong understanding of banking business processes, stakeholder management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once.

This will require broad knowledge of consumer and commercial banking products and services, as well as applicable laws and regulations.

Functional Skills:

  • Analytical mindset with an eye for both detail and big-picture context.

  • Ability to interpret complex dashboards, data visualizations, SQL queries, and dataflows.

  • Problem Solving: Ability to quickly assess gaps, understand root causes, and collaborate on remediation strategies.

  • Excellent Communication: Skilled in translating complex risk requirements into clear, actionable guidance for business teams.

  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring documentation, controls, and responses are thorough, accurate, and audit compliant.

  • Strong Stakeholder Management: Ability to build strong relationships and work effectively across different business units and audit teams.

  • Risk & Control Awareness: Deep understanding of risk management principles, control frameworks and the credit risk management.

Technical/Business Skills:

  • Risk and control frameworks as it applies to large financial institutions

  • Credit and/or Lending knowledge in Commercial, Business and/or Consumer lending

  • Operational and Compliance risks as it relates to banking

  • Key control testing processes and practices

  • Second line review and challenge activities in banking

  • Working knowledge of MS tools such as word, Excel and PPT

  • Minimum 12-15 years of risk analytics experience in a Large Financial Institution / Banking

  • Educational Background in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, economics, finance or a related discipline

  • Must have advanced level knowledge of Risk Management

  • Excellent understanding of regulatory frameworks and Banking regulations in the US Banking environment

  • Must have strong analytical mindset with excellent analytical, logical, reasoning and problem-solving skills including understanding of mathematical concepts and programming languages- SQL, Python

  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders to produce high quality risk analytics reports in a highly controlled environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non- technical audience.
