Agropur is seeking a Continuous Improvement Project Manager – Inventory and Operations to join its team at the Metro Distribution Centre in Etobicoke.

The Continuous Improvement Project Manager - Inventory and Operations is responsible for implementing various continuous improvement programs aimed at achieving excellence in warehousing. In addition, they will play a key role in accelerating the implementation of new work methods to minimise the warehouse's overall operating costs.

What’s involved in this role:

  • Promote a strong culture of continuous improvement by motivating team members to proactively identify operational issues and implement practical, sustainable solutions that align with site objectives.

  • Collaborate closely with supervisors, cross-functional stakeholders, and local management to communicate updates on operational changes, process improvement strategies, and policy adjustments.

  • Develop, plan, and lead improvement initiatives such as Kaizen workshops, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and 90-day action plans to optimize workflows, increase productivity, and reduce operational costs.

  • Analyze production and logistics processes to pinpoint inefficiencies; design and roll out corrective action plans to eliminate waste, streamline procedures, and improve cycle times.

  • Ensure the consistent performance and reliability of equipment and related systems, driving operational excellence and meeting or exceeding established performance targets.

  • Lead and track multiple continuous improvement projects, monitoring progress, addressing bottlenecks proactively, and using structured problem-solving tools such as A3, PDCA methodologies.

  • Provide hands-on coaching, training, and guidance to operational teams to ensure consistent application of Lean principles, Six Sigma tools, and standard work practices.

  • Participate in regular performance reviews, site assessments, and operational workshops (daily, weekly, and monthly) to build alignment, secure buy-in, and encourage cross-team collaboration.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) using tools such as Power BI, ensuring accurate, timely reporting to support data-driven decision-making during site meetings.

  • Design and recommend optimized layouts for material flow and workspace utilization, applying Lean tools and AutoCAD as needed to ensure smooth operations and minimal waste.

  • Work with the inventory and supply chain teams to monitor product movements, analyze sales forecasts versus actuals, and coordinate rework or redistribution of products when needed.

  • Identify and implement process changes that help control costs, improve order fulfillment accuracy, and enhance the customer experience in line with Business Excellence principles.

  • Coordinate with external partners (e.g., plants or food banks) when managing surplus or rework inventory, providing clear instructions to operations teams for shipping or donation activities.

  • Ensure that best practices in operational efficiency, reliability-centered maintenance, and continuous improvement are consistently integrated into daily operations, keeping pace with industry developments.

  • Support the continuity of planning and scheduling by providing vacation relief coverage for the main site planner when required, ensuring smooth operations and minimal disruptions.

What you need to join our team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Master’s degree in Project Management or equivalent is considered an asset.

  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng) license is considered an asset

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in the dairy industry, in a unionised environment.

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in continuous improvement, production systems, warehousing, logistics and operations, with a focus on project management, lean manufacturing, inventory control and operational cost reduction strategies.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

  • Familiarity with A3 processes, Kepner-Tregoe, PDCA, and related frameworks.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Minitab, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Oracle, WMS Software, ERP systems SAP (FI/CO /HR /MM /OT SD).

  • Demonstrated success in implementing effective change management initiatives.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, organized, ability to multitask, proactive, flexible, sense of initiative, client focus and  ability to facilitate discussions and mobilize teams to drive change.

  • Be available to work in person on site; no option to work remotely.
