As the Application Connectivity Manager, you will lead the design team and oversee application owners to ensure seamless integration and performance of business-critical applications. You will be responsible for aligning application connectivity strategies with enterprise architecture, security policies, and operational goals.

You’ll also work closely with internal teams and strategic IT partners to deliver unified, resilient, and compliant solutions that support the UK’s Critical National Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of designers and application owners, fostering collaboration and innovation.

  • Define and implement connectivity frameworks across applications, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and security standards.

  • Guide the design team in developing scalable, secure, and user-centric application solutions.

  • Work with business units and program leads to establish and manage project priority.

  • Attend ARB (Architecture Review Board) to represent designers and application owners.

  • Support application owner with escalations to technical owners.

  • Be the Solution Architect for Private and Public cloud infrastructure.

  • Lead the ICDTA (Infrastructure and Cloud Design Technical Authority) board.

  • Accountable for 3rd party supplier application relationships including SaaS providers.

  • Accountable for application licensing cost lifecycle and control.

  • Ensure application owners adhere to security policies, including JML processes, SSO/MFA integration, and access controls.

  • Collaborate with business units, IT, and external partners to ensure application connectivity meets operational needs.

  • Maintain compliance with UK legislation and deliver cyber-resilient solutions.

What Will Make You Successful in This Role?

Essential:

  • Proven experience in managing design teams and application portfolios.

  • Experience in Technical Design Architecture.

  • Experience in software license management, ensuring compliance and optimising usage.

  • Experience in finance and budgeting, including raising purchase orders and managing costs.

  • Experience in usage monitoring and forecasting to ensure optimal resource allocation and planning.

  • Experience in stakeholder management, including working with cross-functional teams.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise connectivity, cloud integration, and application lifecycle management.

  • Familiarity with SFIA skills framework and ITIL practices.

  • Management of 3rd party suppliers.

Desirable:

  • Experience in critical infrastructure environments.

  • Experience in data analysis and reporting.

  • Experience with project management methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum

  • Certifications in cloud architecture, cybersecurity, or enterprise design.

  • Previously held a Solution Architecture role in infrastructure and cloud.
