Are you passionate about building resilient infrastructure that powers meaningful work? As a System Engineer II, you’ll play a hands-on role in shaping both on-prem and cloud environments—ensuring performance, security, and reliability across the board. From learning infrastructure-as-code to supporting internal users and collaborating with senior engineers, this is your chance to grow your skills while advancing a mission that matters.

 

Here's some of what you will be doing:

  • Assist with installation and configuration of server hardware and software.
  • Assist senior engineers with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of on-premises data center and cloud-based infrastructure and systems.
  • Contribute to the development of disaster recovery policies and procedures. Perform system backups and recoveries.
  • Implement updates and patches as required for performance, availability, and security.
  • Participate in the implementation and management of load-balanced web server farms.
  • Monitor server traffic, system performance, security alerts, and proactively identify potential problems.
  • Coordinate with network staff on installation of hardware required to maintain growth and stability.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting tasks to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Provide technical support to internal users as needed.
  • Perform maintenance as necessary, often during evenings and weekends.
  • Participate in on-call rotation. Provide 24x7 support for all IT infrastructure.
  • Document IT infrastructure and maintain data files.
  • Document technical processes and procedures.
  • Submit weekly reports as defined by reporting manager.
  • Partner with team members and other departments to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Learn and apply infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles to automate deployments and manage configurations.
  • Monitor and stay current on industry trends and advances and present recommendations as necessary.
  • Maintain professional competency, knowledge, and skills by continuing professional and technical development and training.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

Here's some experience we are seeking: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science and Information systems.
  • MCSE Certifications will be given preference.
  • 2–3 years of experience in a technical support or systems administration role, a plus.
  • Experience with architecture and design of IIS servers, including the use of SSL Certificates.
  • Proven experience with VMware, ESX Server with Virtual Center, and Microsoft Server 2008/2012.
  • Solid understanding of computer hardware and software fundamentals, including networking, operating systems (Windows and Linux), and basic cloud computing principles.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash), a plus.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard disaster recovery policies and procedures, desired.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with a willingness to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
  • Collaborative and flexible style, with strong service mentality.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
