University residences provide accommodation to approximately 5,500 students across the university. We are committed to providing a professional, customer focused service to a wide range of people.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and reliable individual, delivering an efficient and effective housekeeping service on a student residences site.
This is a full time, open-ended post - 35 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday 5 hours per day.
Starting Salary: £23,350 per annum, moving to £23,742 per annum from 1 August 2026.
This is a campus based role.
Package includes 32 days holiday per year plus bank holidays, pro rata for part time staff, as well as access to a range of staff discounts.

The role will require, a flexible approach to working hours as required, to support the achievement of departmental goals. During arrivals / departures, conferences and other busy periods you may be required to work additional hours.

Job Description
- To supervise and monitor the Domestic Team in their day-to-day duties, ensuring effective excellent service delivery and standards met.
- To deliver on the job training to staff as required.
- To organise work schedules, monitor staff attendance and arrange cover for absent staff.
- To meet and greet customers as directed by the Manager, including show rounds, open days etc.
- To liaise with the residence’s management team in the preparation and service of rooms, as required.
- To ensure all equipment is properly used and maintained, including personal protective equipment.
- To issue and maintain cleaning materials / linen and check stock levels.
- To check and report maintenance faults / damage to site Handyperson and / or residences unit team as required.
- To issue keys as required and be accountable for their location.
- To produce and distribute housekeeping notices as required.
- To distribute and maintain notices / mail, ensuring addressee only mail is delivered in person.
- To clean designated areas as required.
- To carry out scheduled health and safety checks and periodical checks on site, reporting any issues identified.
- To ensure health and safety procedures are strictly adhered to and hazards are identified / controlled.
- To direct the student to sources of information / assistance, which may include welfare matters.
- To provide a reception service and cover reception duties where required.
- To carry out routine administration tasks as directed by the Management Team.
- To attend and actively participate in all basic training as identified in Campus Services Training Matrix.
- To identify your personal training needs in conjunction with your manager, ensuring that learning is transferred to the workplace.

CAMPUS SERVICES INFORMATION
Campus Services provides a range of professional support services to students, staff and visitors at Cardiff University.
Residences manages accommodation places for approximately 5,500 students, both catered and self-catered.
In terms of catering, there are cafés and restaurants conveniently located across university campuses, in addition to a delivered hospitality service.
Cardiff University Sport exists to provide students and staff with a balanced, high quality and integrated sport service which meets the needs of a broad range of users.
The Nursery offers facilities for children aged between 10 weeks and 5 years and is divided into sections appropriate to the ages and development of the children.
Both residential and catering facilities are utilised for conferences and functions during the University’s vacation periods. A purpose built and designed conference centre and conference facility is also available throughout the year.
The Campus Services operation is supported by its own central administration functions covering the allocation of residences, human resource and quality, purchasing, facilities, finance, and general administration.
