JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this job description is to provide a high-level overview of the role, scope, and responsibilities; other duties may be assigned as necessary. The Engineering Manager will provide overall direction to the engineering team’s function through the development of policies and procedures consistent with EAM’s requirements and standards. They will help strategize, design, and manage projects at every stage, ensuring that the projects are completed efficiently, correctly, on budget, and on schedule. This position will direct engineering resources on the business unit in order to efficiently improve the manufacturing process and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the engineering and manufacturing of all new, existing, and custom products
- Responsible for the daily oversight of the engineering department members, and the manufacturing of new engineering design prototypes or changes to existing products.
- A leader who can drive results through efficient project management, resource allocation, and task prioritization for multiple and simultaneous projects
- Directs and coordinates engineering activities designed to improve shop floor practice aimed at reducing non-conformance and improving product quality and reliability
- Assigns tasks to engineering team and technical personnel
- Collaborate effectively with other key stakeholders in sales, product development, finance, supply chain, and production to ensure consistent and constructive communication so that departmental outputs are aligned with the overall vision and strategy of the company
- Collaborates with the product development team during the design process to provide engineering solutions for the manufacturing and assembly of new products
- Designs, implements, and refines product development, testing and manufacturing processes
- Partners with sales production, and R&D to oversee the engineering of custom products
- Must be able to identify manufacturing feasibility and profitability
- Provides alternative solutions to ensure the highest probability of winning projects
- Ability to analyze the engineering documentation process including 3D data, 2D drawings, cut lists, BOMs, cost-to- build, etc.
- Serves as a leader, mentor, and coach to a team of engineers, designers, and drafters
- Responsible for interpreting labor information requirements and cost information as it relates to product design and manufacturing.
- Must be able to identify inefficiencies, provide guidance to production and ensure that BOMs (costs) are accurately defined, maintained, and disseminated.
- Owns the product change request and product change notification process to ensure that any engineering changes are warranted, structurally sound, and cost-effective
- Responsible for supporting quality assurance policies, programs, and initiatives
- Ensures the professional growth of its team to increase engineering staff skills and to meet technological change requirements of the engineering function
- Keeps abreast of engineering trends and developments through continued education
- Other duties as assigned due to business needs.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace or other highly regulated industry
- Experience having worked in a FAA regulated manufacturing and repair facility
- Must be familiar with AS9100 standard and ISO 14001
- Must be familiar with FAR 145, EASA and all applicable regulatory requirements and compliance
- Experience with material and materials testing, particularly coated fabrics
- Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and manufacturing processes, including LEAN manufacturing
- Strategic thinker with proven ability to anticipate and plan for the long-term while achieving near-term objectives
- Demonstrated ability to build high performing teams
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position will serve as a leader for the Engineering Team

- Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is a physically demanding position which requires for the employee to be able to:
- Lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds at times
- Must be able to reach at or below shoulder level, reach overhead, push, or pull, lift, or carry, and kneel at times
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Be able to be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, occasional loud sounds, and vibration
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
