POSITION SUMMARY: 
This position performs transportation services for older adults and persons with disabilities as well as provides meal deliveries to nutrition sites and participant homes. This position is also responsible for the scheduling of preventative maintenance and repairs for service vehicles. This is an on-call position that services multiple site locations throughout the County. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Transports older adults and persons safely to nutritional, medical, employment, shopping and social recreational destinations; assists passengers; onboarding and offboarding safely utilizing a lift if available and needed.
  • Delivers bulk meals to nutrition sites and delivers individual meals to qualified home bound individuals.
  • Assists in the packing of home delivered meals and meal service as time allows.
  • Performs a daily pre-operational vehicle check.
  • Schedules vehicle for routine preventative maintenance and repairs as needed.  Participates in annual vehicle inspections with the Wisconsin State Patrol.
  • Completes daily and monthly paperwork.
  • Attends in-service education and conferences as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES   
  • Knowledge of operating and servicing vehicles.
  • Knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations governing vehicle operation.
  • Skill and care in the operation of the equipment.
  • Ability to make minor repairs and adjustment to equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • General knowledge of the County and department programs and policies.
  • Knowledge of local government organization and its departmental operating requirements. 
  • Ability to work the allocated hours of the position.
  • Ability to perform detailed work accurately and independently in compliance with stringent time limits with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work product while adapting to constant changes in priority.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and legible notes..
LANGUAGE SKILLS   
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with a wide range of individuals, including the public, colleagues, and supervisors. 
  • Ability to read County policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence; MSDS sheets, safety manuals, maps, etc.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to calculate mathematical calculations. 
REASONING ABILITY 
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to develop, interpret and implement local policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence; Federal, State, and local regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 
  • This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, frequently requires standing, using hands to handle, feel, and perform fine motor skills and repetitive motions, and occasionally requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Sufficient vision to perform tasks such as reading documents, operating vehicles, or working with detailed data. 
  • Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels for tasks such as communicating with the public, colleagues, or over the phone. 
  • Work requires operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities.
  • Work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions, frequently requires exposure to vibration and occasionally requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
  • Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). 
WORK ENVIRONMENT 
  • Work is primarily in an outdoor setting.
  • Work is varied over multiple Senior Center locations throughout the County.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 
  • High school diploma/equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Previous experience as a driver carrying passengers preferred.
  • In-service on Disabled and Transporting Disabled must be completed upon of hire.
  • Appointment is conditional upon successful completion of a caregiver and criminal background check.
Posting Pay Range: $15.84 - $17.92/hour
Department: HHS - ADRC (Aging and Disability Resource Center)
FTE: On-Call
