Position Title: Pre-ETS Skills Trainer
Department: I/DD Division Reports To (Title): Coordinator Transition Services
Position Type: Entry-Level (3 yrs experience or less)

Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) for Potentially Eligible (PE) Students with Disabilities (SWD) are a Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) are designed to address the career development needs of students with disabilities. Pre-ETS prepares students with disabilities for employment, explores their post-secondary education options, develops their employment related soft skills and assists them in obtaining work experience. Pre-ETS provides a meaningful way to enhance the development of a student’s career direction. The goal is for Pre-ETS to prepare students to become engaged in their own transition and vocational planning as well as for successful long-term employment consistent with their individual strengths, abilities, interests, and informed choice.
Essential Functions: Describe the duties that define the core responsibilities of the job. ·
Provide group/individual instruction for youth and adults with a disability primarily both In person at various schools and location as well as through Video Platform i.e. TEAMS
Lead a classroom of students at school sites through 25-30 hours of Pre-ETS curriculum
This position requires good interpersonal skills and the ability to keep each day’s lessons, fun and engaging and not simply reading or giving a speech to students
Ability to engage meaningfully with individuals diagnosed with I/DD who may not be very verbal, yet still have them participate in group classes
Provide intensive on-the-job training at internship sites, utilizing a person-centered approach, to students participating in Pre-Employment Transition Services.
Coordinate with NJTIP@Rutgers to train students on public transportation to get to/from work-based learning sites.
Provide ongoing supports to help increase work skills, develop appropriate vocational goals and problem solve issues that may arise at the internship site.
Complete and keep track of task analysis for the purpose of training students.
Complete all required documentation, progress notes and monthly Pre-ETS student reports in a timely manner. All progress notes need to be completed contemporaneously.
Perform case management services as needed, to include linking the student with other service providers or community resources such as: recreation, education, transportation or leisure, in order to further enhance the student’s integration into the community.
Train other staff at internship site; including co-workers and supervisors on how to best work with the interns. Ensure at minimum monthly onsite supports are provided.
Educate students about how working may impact other benefits that they may currently be receiving. Connect students to Benefit Counseling Services as needed.
Complete and submit weekly and monthly reports.
Enter student information into Foothold Awards system.
Communicate with referral sources ACCES-VR, and private funders as per the funder communication follow-up procedure.
Attend all rehab and staff meetings as required as well as attend alternating events/meetings/fairs as necessary in community.
Become familiar with CARF regulations.
Assure that services provided and documentation maintained is CARF compliant.

Qualifications: Describe the minimum educational and experience requirements/preferences.
BS/BA Degree in human services field from an accredited college is desired
This is a field-based position, must be willing to use public transportation to travel to various schools and sites as needed.
