Position: Controller
Job Type: Full-time / Exempt
Salary: $118,950
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is responsible for managing, administering, and coordinating the financial business affairs of Lincoln Hall, including accounting operations, purchasing oversight, and inventory management.
Responsibilities
- Accounting Operations
- Supervise and manage the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Oversee and review payroll reconciliations, journal entries, and related G/L accounts.
- Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Asset sub-ledger.
- Reconcile all G/L accounts; prepare accrual and prepaid expense schedules with supporting documentation.
- Program & Compliance
- Manage financial reporting and compliance for Lincoln Hall’s Family Reunification Program (FRP), an ORR-funded program for unaccompanied minors.
- Prepare and submit financial reports and filings related to ORR and other external agencies.
- Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and monthly budget-to-actual analyses.
- Partner with program management and ORR representatives to ensure compliance and timely reporting.
- Audit & Assurance
- Lead the planning and coordination of the annual audits of Lincoln Hall and L.H. Foundation, Inc.
- Serve as primary liaison with independent auditors, ensuring timely responses to requests and a smooth, efficient audit process.
- Oversee preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation, and reconciliations required for audit completion.
- Other Duties
- Track Waste Water Treatment Plant and Fuel Excise tax expenses and submit for reimbursement.
- Support Workers’ Compensation audits and provide required documentation.
- Prepare supporting schedules and calculations for external tax advisors in connection with annual tax returns.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership/supervisory responsibilities.
- Proven experience in general ledger management, month-end close, reconciliations, payroll oversight, and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with ERP/accounting software (experience with Serenic Navigator/Navision a plus), as well as ADP.
- Demonstrated ability in budget development, financial analysis, and compliance reporting.
- Experience working with prepaids, fixed assets, and audit support.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to multi-task, work independently, and maintain high accuracy.
- Background in operations/administration (e.g., HR benefits, vendor management, contracts) is desirable.
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
