The Development Officer is a vital member of Neighborhood Healthcare’s development team, tasked with spearheading major gift fundraising. This role focuses on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors to secure significant financial support for annual, capital, and planned giving campaigns. The Development Officer will build relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation prospects and lead regional advocacy efforts to advance our mission. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Growth. This is a full-time, hybrid position, with regular travel to the Moreno Valley Headquarters and various event locations required. Candidates must currently be located in the Inland Empire.
Responsibilities
- Lead major gift fundraising for Neighborhood Healthcare based on the assigned region.
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors ($10,000+), securing gifts ranging from $500,000 to $1,000,000 or above for annual, capital, and planned giving initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with individuals, corporate, and foundation prospects in the assigned region to expand the donor base.
- Collaborate with the Development Coordinator on prospect research and moves management to optimize fundraising outcomes.
- Develop and coordinate the Advocacy Council to support regional advocacy and fundraising for regional projects, including recruiting and engaging council members.
- Represent Neighborhood Healthcare at community events, networking opportunities, and regional meetings to promote organizational goals.
- Attend weekly team meetings at Moreno Valley Headquarters and participate in events across the service area, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Develop and execute tailored fundraising strategies for the assigned region aligning with organizational priorities.
- Track and report fundraising progress, maintaining accurate donor records and providing regular updates to the Vice President of Growth.
- Ensure compliance with fundraising policies, ethical standards, and regulations, upholding professionalism and integrity.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, business, communications, or a related field required
- Master’s degree in a related field or CFRE certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in major gift fundraising, with a track record of securing gifts of $500,000 to $1,000,000 or above required
- Some experience in healthcare or community-based nonprofit fundraising is highly preferred
- Valid CA driver’s license and reliable transportation required

- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Strong strategic planning and execution abilities for fundraising initiatives.
- Proficiency in donor management software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce) and prospect research tools. Strong leadership abilities.
- High emotional intelligence (EI) to effectively lead teams and manage relationships across different departments throughout the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skills
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent planning and organizational ability
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner
- Ability to work under pressure and be flexible with changing site needs. Can work with people of all social and ethnic backgrounds and maintain confidentiality. Able to train and manage staff in a collaborative manner.
- Willingness to travel regularly within Neighborhood Healthcare service areas(Inland Empire) and to other event locations.
- Availability for evening and weekend events and donor meetings.

Neighborhood Healthcare offers a generous benefit plan that includes: Partially company paid Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans. Pay range: $113,700-$172,800 annually, depending on experience.

While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs. As a result, placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full pay grade range may not be utilized.
