Role Overview
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated communications professional to join our growing Global Government Affairs team. This role is ideal for someone with 8 to 10 years of experience who has worked in the public policy space, either in government, on Capitol Hill, or in an agency setting in a related capacity. The successful candidate will be a “jack of all trades” communicator with a high bar for excellence who is ready to support a fast-paced global public affairs team. This person should be a self-starter who can think big, own their space, and is comfortable juggling multiple projects under tight deadlines. Experience with content creation, media relations, social media, event planning, and strategic communications campaigns is ideal. Prior experience in the technology sector is helpful.
This position is based in our Washington, D.C. office and reports to the Head of Global Public Affairs.
What You Will Do
- Support development and execution of PR and communications strategies that build Coupang’s reputation and visibility with policymakers, stakeholders, and media.
- Assist in creating written communications, including press releases, media statements, briefing documents, Q&As, talking points, and newsletters, and blog posts.
- Monitor media, social channels, and policy news for stories relevant to Coupang; provide regular updates and media coverage reports.
- Help plan and execute events, briefings, and stakeholder engagements.
- Maintain media lists, stakeholder databases, and track outreach activities.
- Assist with coordination of external consultants, agencies, and vendors.
- Provide logistical and administrative support for the communications team to ensure projects run smoothly.
- Contribute creative ideas for campaigns, storytelling, and ways to strengthen Coupang’s reputation.
Basic Qualifications
- 8–10 years of experience in communications, public relations, public affairs, or related field.
- Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences, including crafting op-eds, blogs, and thought leadership content.
- Experience with media relations and an interest in working with journalists.
- Prior experience supporting strategic multi-faceted communications campaigns with measurable results.
- Experience with event planning and logistics.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-moving environment.
- Comfort with data analysis to track communications performance.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A collaborative and proactive team player with a “roll up your sleeves” attitude.
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn new skills across the PR/communications spectrum.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with global corporations and/or tech companies
- Experience with digital advertising, sponsored content, and SEO.
- Graphic design and video editing skills.
Pay & Benefits:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $212,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
