JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE |
The Purchasing Manager—indirect—is responsible for overseeing the procurement of indirect materials, supplies, and services necessary for the company's operations. This role involves developing and implementing purchasing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of indirect goods and services. The Purchasing Manager will be critical in optimizing the supply chain and supporting the company's production goals. |
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES |
· Procurement Strategy: o Deliver bottom-line financial and working capital sourcing improvement contributions for indirect categories while maintaining quality and service levels that support the manufacturing process. Develop and implement savings initiatives across all plants. o Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify cost savings opportunities and optimize the supply chain. o Coordinate with Engineering and Operations to negotiate the optimal cost and delivery of capital equipment for repairs, maintenance, and operational requirements. o Implement MRO sourcing strategies to support corporate and divisional objectives. o Develop and consolidate supplier base to meet current and future indirect product needs. o Implement SAP purchasing and inventory process improvements. o Collaborate with the supply chain team to align purchasing strategies with overall business objectives. · Supplier Management: o Identify, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships to ensure reliable and high-quality supply. o Manage RFQ process: obtain and review quotes, negotiate prices and terms, and recommend suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery. o Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions. o Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and implement corrective actions as needed. · Inventory Management: o Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock and minimize excess inventory. o Collaborate with production and logistics teams to forecast demand and plan inventory accordingly. o Implement and maintain inventory management systems to ensure accurate tracking and control. · Cost Management: o Develop and manage budgets for purchasing activities, ensuring adherence to financial targets. o Monitor financial performance and implement cost-saving measures as needed. o Analyze procurement data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. · Compliance and Risk Management: o Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and legal requirements related to purchasing activities. o Identify and mitigate procurement risks through effective risk management practices. o Maintain and update purchasing policies and procedures. · Team Leadership: o Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team to achieve high performance and professional growth. o Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages innovation and excellence. o Implement training and development programs to enhance team capabilities. · Reporting and Documentation: o Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of purchasing activities, contracts, and supplier performance. o Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on purchasing performance and compliance status. o Communicate purchasing plans and updates to relevant stakeholders. |
JOB KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE |
Required Qualifications: · Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Finance, or a related field. · Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role. · Skills & Competencies: o Strong knowledge of procurement principles and best practices. o Excellent leadership and team management skills. o Effective communication and interpersonal skills. o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. o Proficiency in procurement management software and tools. · Certifications: Relevant industry certifications preferred (e.g., Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)). · Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. · Advanced use of ERP system (SAP), Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications: · Experience in the manufacturing or industrial sector. · Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies. |
