LOCATION: Lake Bluff Middle School
CHARACTERISTICS: Full Time, certified
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree, Valid Teaching Certificate with Math Endorsement
REPORTS TO: Principal (Assistant Principal when applicable)
EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by Building Principal, Assistant Principal, Superintendent, Director of Curriculum & Instruction, or Director of Special Services as assigned and in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education Policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
To provide excellence in education by establishing an environment that facilitates student learning, encourages the realization of personal potential, and contributes to students’ development as mature, able, and responsible adults.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Attends meetings as required under the current contract.
- Is available to students, parents, staff and administrators for education-related purposes during the school workday.
- Supports the district's philosophy of education.
- Recognizes pupil needs and seeks the assistance of other professional staff in helping pupils solve social, emotional, physical, and academic problems.
- Plans and implements a program of study within the established curriculum that meets the individual needs and abilities of the students.
- Prepares for classes assigned and shares preparation activities with the building principal, upon request.
- Fosters a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Establishes clear objectives and communicates these to students.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs, capabilities, and interests of the students involved.
- Assesses and reports student performance on a regular basis.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative procedures.
- Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Actively maintains professional competencies through continuous learning and professional development opportunities.
- Supports the administration and staff in implementing current district practices and programs.
Qualifications:
- Appropriate Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
- Valid Illinois Teaching Certificate with Math endorsements - Registered in Lake County
- Successful student teaching or past teaching experience
- Valid First Aid/CPR Cards preferred
Working Conditions:
Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent
standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences.
Long term substitute pay is $284/day.
