Position: Preschool Full-Time Paraprofessional
Summary of position: In this role, the Paraprofessional will plan, supervise, and implement
activities for a group of children ages 3–5 years old, in accordance with the policies and
philosophy of Carrollton Public Schools. This position is up to 7.5 hours per day. The
Paraprofessional supports the instructional, behavioral, and safety needs of students by
assisting teachers, supervising students, and maintaining a positive and engaging learning
environment. This role requires strong communication skills, flexibility, teamwork, and a
commitment to the well-being and development of all students.

COMPENSATION: Per the CEA PARAPROFESSIONAL Contract
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
? Cooperate and work effectively as part of a team with teachers, students, and
administration.
? Maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with students, parents,
colleagues, and community members.
? Demonstrate competency in technology to support instruction and communication.
? Attend designated workshops, in-service training sessions, and complete all required
professional development.
? Collaborate with teachers, students, and administrative staff to support instructional
goals.
? Maintain a safe and supportive environment for students at all times.
? Implement and monitor behavioral treatment plans under the direction of the principal
or teacher.
? Provide behavioral modifications when necessary.
? Ensure strict confidentiality regarding student, parent, and staff information.
? Lead or assist in activity programs for young children as directed.
? Ride the bus after school to engage with and manage students when assigned.
? Supervise and interact with students outdoors in varying Michigan weather conditions.
? Lift and, when necessary, restrain students safely in accordance with training.
? Adhere to Michigan’s Child Care Licensing Rules and Regulations.
? Successfully complete the probationary period as outlined in the Carrollton Association
of Paraprofessionals contract.
? Be willing to receive additional training to improve job skills.
? Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS:
? Must be 18 years of age or older.
Education/Certification Requirements:
? Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) at minimum, or willingness to obtain
within one calendar year for compliance.
? Associate’s degree, or completion of at least two years of study (60 semester hours) at
an accredited institution of higher education.
? If the above are not met, applicants may:
o Take the College Board SAT (minimum score of 480 in evidence-based
reading/writing and 530 in math), or
o Take the ETS Parapro Assessment and obtain a passing score of 460.
o The district will cover the cost of either the SAT or ETS Parapro Assessment.
Applicants will be given 90 days to successfully pass.
? Two years of successful experience as an aide in a childcare program or equivalent
experience preferred.
? Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
? Excellent oral and written communication skills.
? Ability to work effectively with staff, parents, and students.
Must satisfactorily pass:
? Law enforcement background check with fingerprinting.
? Personal and professional reference background check.
? Must receive a satisfactory response to 4205-F Authorization for Release of Information
and Employee History Check under 1996 PA 189 of 1996; MCL 380.1230b.
