POSITION SUMMARY

The Materials Handler will transport raw materials between two nearby manufacturing locations using equipment such as a box truck and a forklift. This position is designed to be part-time, but depending on business needs, we can offer additional hours performing machine operation or warehouse duties. The scheduled hours can be flexible within the hours of 6 AM and 3:30 PM Monday through Friday.

CORE FUNCTIONS

         Use forklift to load and unload raw materials from box truck,

•         Secure product with load straps or load bars to ensure limited movement during transit 

         Safely drive box truck between facilities (Old Hickory, TN to Madison, TN - local transport - less than 4 miles each way) 

         Efficiently moves materials to and from point of use, ensuring product quality is maintained.

         Responsible for accurate takeaways or replacements of Kanban racks and empty racks.

         Ensure product is properly labeled with part number, name, and quantity; rotates stock as needed.  

         Maintain accurate inventory; conducts cycle counts; transfers product in WMS; investigates and resolves variances.

         Operate a company vehicle in accordance with established traffic and transportation procedures and laws.

         Communicate effectively with all departments and supervisors/leads.

                                                               

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

·         High School Diploma or GED preferred.

·         1-5 years of related experience and/or training preferred.

·         Previous forklift experience required.

 

Required Licenses

·         Driver’s license 

 

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

·         Skilled in the operation of powered industrial trucks, pallet jack, tape gun.

·         Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

·         Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

·         Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work instructions, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

·         Ability to count and perform basic math.

·         Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Individual Contributor: working team member with no oversight of others and no management responsibilities.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

·         This position is subject to Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

·         This position is subject to the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, and hearing.

Visual Acuity

·         The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment. The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general labor, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.). The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.                   

 Working Conditions

·         The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including heat, noise, vibration, and hazards from a production-based environment.
