Senior Vehicle-Electrical Systems Integration Engineer

Department: Engineering Location: Romulus, MI

RLE International and FutureMotiv are seeking a Senior Vehicle-Electrical Systems Engineer with direct automotive industry experience to join their team in Romulus, MI (eventually relocating to Ann Arbor, MI). In this position, you will work closely with customers and suppliers to perform the integration of electrical systems into vehicles that may or may not be originally designed as an EV. You will also be involved in build support and troubleshooting of electrical systems and commissioning of customer vehicles/laboratory cars.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee the build of development vehicles and laboratory cars.
- Plan and execute customer vehicle/laboratory car commissioning sequence.
- Support the commissioning of all vehicle electrical systems.
- Analyze quality and warranty data from various sources such as Analytical Warranty System (AWS), Durability testing, customer feedback, and dealer communications.
- Perform root cause analysis, including hands-on testing where required.
- Implement resolutions for field issues and validate the effectiveness of corrective actions with analytical data.
- Work with component/system owners, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to implement corrective actions for identified issues.
- Manage implementation of software and hardware changes via change management process
- Test new function implementation and improve product build efficiency.
- Create engineering reports for customer and company-internal parties.

Qualifications:
Personal Skills:
- Strong hands-on, "can do" EE engineering skills able to be applied to the debugging and testing of new vehicle developments.
- Ability to learn fast and to pick up new skills and engineering concepts quickly.
- Ability to effectively operate and communicate in a multi-cultural environment.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
- Ability to report to senior management accurately and in a clear and concise manner.

Technical Skills:
- Able to commission, analyze, and test electrical system architecture, and manage feature implementation with Electrical Architect and Suppliers.
- Able to test and validate system features on various platforms such as test rigs, lab-car, customer vehicle.
- Able to create, support the development and execution of vehicle DVPs.
- Operating experience with Vector Canoe / Canalyzer; Analysis of CAN, LIN, Ethernet communication busses.
- Experience with software downloading and uploading processes on an engineering vehicle and OBD port.
- Ensure effective communication, containment, and action plans with regards to quality related issues.

Minimum Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in automotive EE systems/component engineering, development and testing.
- Background in electrical design and/or software implementation.
- Direct experience with vehicle electrical system integration in an OEM/Tier 1 environment.
- Experience with high voltage working procedures, preferably with accreditation in the operation of HV component maintenance procedures (lock out tag out, OSHA, etc.).
- Experience with low-voltage electrical systems within a vehicle platform.
- Experience with typical vehicle power distribution topologies, with an ability to test and debug power supply-related issues.
