Job Summary:

This part-time position is responsible for a clean, orderly, and safe environment by performing a wide variety of cleaning and light maintenance activities inside of three company buildings and company-owned tractors. The Mattawan Custodian will report to the HR Manager for supervision and administrative support, though this role operates independently from the Human Resources Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the general cleanliness and sanitation of Mattawan Office, Maintenance Shop, and Trailer Shop.
• Ensure spaces are cleaned and business ready by emptying trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces.
• Perform regular cleaning tasks including sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, and wiping windows and mirrors in accordance with daily checklists.
• Wash, sanitize, and stock bathrooms including toilets, sinks, and restocking disposables like soap and paper towels.
• Assist Facilities and Maintenance Manager with cleaning company-owned tractors as needed.
• Lock and secure buildings as necessary after cleaning.
• Perform light maintenance tasks (ex: replacing broken switches, fixing door handles, replacing light bulbs, etc.).
• Ensure all mats in the office are cleaned twice weekly.
• Assist with other custodial and janitorial tasks (shoveling snow from the sidewalk, moving furniture, etc.).

• Ability to work independently with strong time management skills.
• Comfortability working in both office and shop environments.

Education and Experience:

• Proven experience as housekeeper, janitor, or similar role.

While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to have the strength and stamina to lift and carry product and furniture weighing up to 30lbs. This position will alternate between standing, walking, squatting, twisting, bending, and sitting frequently throughout the day.
