Essential Functions: The Development Officer (Major Gifts) helps raise vital funds to support the mission of Manning Family Children's with a focus on Major Gifts (over $25,000) in support of the hospital's strategic funding priorities, including both capital and programmatic support. Responsible for identifying, soliciting and stewarding a targeted portfolio of major gift prospects. Also engages in developing a base of philanthropic support for the organization, formulates and implement fundraising strategies to grow the base of support for the organization, in coordination with the leader. Closely works with various leaders to promote and further the fundraising goals and priorities of the hospital.
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years of direct fundraising or related experience in raising mid-level and/or major gifts for nonprofits, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Transferrable or related experience such as marketing, public relations, trust officer or sales will be considered.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated success in growing and managing an annual fund, mid-level or major gifts portfolio to meet assigned goals and objectives.
- Proven ability to work with hospital leadership and colleagues to identify and qualify prospective donors, make discovery visits and build a pipeline of potential support.
- Experience in prospect identification, relationship building, prospect portfolio management and solicitation and stewardship of prospects for a nonprofit, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- An understanding of developing and managing relationships with corporate sponsors
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to write and speak in a clear and compelling manner.
