Job Description:

Position Salary Range: $47,000 - $52,000 per year; offer dependent on experience

Arizona State University continues to be a leading destination for international students worldwide.  Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Student Experience and Retention, the Senior  Coordinator will play a key role in designing and implementing student experience initiatives that  support undergraduate international students. Areas of focus include pre-arrival and arrival  services, cultural and academic adjustment, academic success, personal and professional  development, student engagement and connection, access to campus and community resources,  internationalization efforts, and advocacy. Additionally, the Senior Coordinator will serve as a  Designated School Official (DSO) and advisor to student clubs for first-year international students.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and manage resources, materials, and programs that support internationalization efforts and the success of first-year international undergraduate students.
  • Serve as a liaison among students, faculty, staff, departments, and community partners to coordinate and promote university-wide initiatives.
  • Collaborate with ASU staff and international students to design academic, leadership, and engagement opportunities.
  • Co-lead the FutureSelf initiative to help undergraduate international students explore personal and professional goals and enhance mastery in both areas.
  • Develop and oversee the Buddy Program to support the transition, connection, and  retention of new international undergraduates.
  • Support broader retention efforts for first-year international students through targeted programming and services.
  • Design and facilitate academic workshops, focus groups, and events across multiple ASU campuses, tailored to student and campus-specific needs.
  • Provide services that support academic achievement, professional development, cultural adjustment, and immigration-related concerns for international undergraduate students. Contribute to the strategic planning and implementation of initiatives within the International Students and Scholars Center (ISSC).
  • Plan and implement program evaluation strategies to assess effectiveness and guide future improvements.
  • Establish key performance indicators and prepare reports to measure the impact of programs, workshops, and events.
  • Implement tracking and follow-up systems to monitor engagement, persistence, and progression of first-year international students.
  • Supervise and mentor student workers on the ISSC Student Experience Team, ensuring effective coordination and professional growth.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Evidence of a master’s degree in higher education, international education, intercultural  communication, counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience in academic advising and/or peer mentoring of international students.
  • Experience working with international student organizations on campus.
  • Experience in program budgeting, development, coordination, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated competence in cross-cultural communication.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trends related to campus internationalization and international  student experience.
  • Experience analyzing quantitative and qualitative data; ability to draw conclusions from  student data sets.
  • Bilingual: proficiency in a second language.
  • Evidence of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.

Working Environment:

  • Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting and are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity are required for daily use of a desktop computer; position may involve bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • May require irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties.
  • Regular review of completed tasks.

The International Students and Scholars Center is one of several departments comprising the Division of Enrollment Services which utilizes a variety of strategies to enroll and support a varied student population representative of Arizona State University's vision.

The International Students and Scholars Center is comprised of a staff of trained experts, versed in the details and requirements of academic and employment-based programs, who provide visa and immigration advice and support to visiting students and scholars. These services include oversight of visa programs, planning and coordinating orientations for the international students, and assisting with visa and immigration for new students, staff, and scholars.
