Job Summary

The Director - Communications and Marketing will direct the Communications and Marketing strategies, including internal and external communications and various marketing campaigns targeting our existing customer base, potential clients, and other industry influencers for CEMEX U.S. They will be responsible for working across the business lines to ensure business objectives are achieved while ensuring overall alignment with the company’s global standards and objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement an integrated strategic communications and marketing strategy for CEMEX U.S. 
  • Develop and maintain a baseline/database of our current external media presence
  • Develop communications and marketing plans and execute external communications efforts and targeted campaigns aimed to enhance our company’s reputation in the U.S. (candidates, customers, communities and shareholders)
  • Identify and segment stakeholders and products to develop and execute appropriate communications and marketing efforts and programs (e.g., Vertua, CemexGo, etc.)
  • Plan best mix of communications and marketing channels to reach targeted stakeholders and elevate the company’s reputation
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key national, regional, and local media outlets, and Industry Associations
  •  Lead crisis communications efforts in coordination with legal department
  • Manage and coordinate media efforts to address around priority sites or projects in coordination with consultant(s)
  • Actively participate in the creation and implementation of the Quarterly CEMEX U.S. Communications and Marketing Agenda
  •  Actively participate in the content creation process of the Global Communications Department
  •  Develop, implement, and manage strategic, integrated communications and marketing campaigns that are aligned with business strategy and complement key stakeholder engagement and outreach efforts
  • Collaborate with and manage third party communications and marketing firms and other vendors
  • Lead the efforts related to social media and digital content that engages various users and aligns with Company culture and values
  • Oversee the responsibilities of the team including budgeting, planning, and staff development    Provide leadership and strategic direction to the U.S. Communications team
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct performance and development discussions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, Marketing or related   Master’s degree a plus
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills 
  • 5-7 years of experience in journalism/communications and content creation for external audiences 3-5 years managing integrated strategic communications and marketing programs
  • Experience in handling the media (crisis management, under pressure, meeting deadlines) Experience in writing press-releases and pitching stories to media

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Up to 20% travel as needed
  •  Ability to manage emerging and unpredictable events in a time sensitive manner
  • Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to changing environment
  • Exposure to CRM tools, Email platforms, and Analytics platforms
  • Ability to manage multiple campaigns and activities with varying objectives and deadlines
  • Ability to connect with people by establishing and maintaining effective, positive relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to explain complex topics and issues to all levels of audiences effectively 
  • Ability to create and implement new initiatives

Capable of working in an open concept office environment

Physical Requirements

  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
