Construction Support/Survey Specialist

PLEASE NOTE:
This is a remote position, however, you will travel up to approximately 15% of your time throughout the state of GA.
You must have a Valid Georgia (GA) Drivers License.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Construction Survey Specialist is responsible for supporting field construction/acquisition staking activities as well as ensuring quality and accuracy of Land Engineering products. The survey specialist supports a variety of internal clients and possesses a high level of surveying & mapping skill, expertise, and knowledge.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma is required.
- A bachelor’s degree in Surveying and Mapping, Geomatics, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field is preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of field and/or office surveying and mapping experience (or college-related course work) is preferred. A combination of both field and office experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or comparable mapping software is required.
- Experience with PLS-CADD is preferred.
- Experience in geographic information systems (GIS) is preferred.
- Experience in global positioning systems for land surveying (GPS) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of survey data processing using a variety of available software is preferred.
- Experience with LiDAR data and/or laser scanning data is a plus.
- Experience in the utility industry is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The successful candidate for this position will exhibit the following:
- Comprehensive knowledge of land and construction surveying concepts & techniques.
- Ability to interpret surveying and construction documents and drawings.
- Knowledge of Carlson data collection software, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcView, and PLS-CADD.
- Understanding of CADD Mapping, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), and Global Positioning System (GPS) for land surveying.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently and on a team, ability to prioritize tasks and adhere to the construction schedule.
Duties:
- Processing survey field data for as-staking and as-construct using Carlson software and/or company-specific software.
- Receive and review line design staking requests to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Track staking requests through Construction Staking Request Tracker.
- Implement quality control procedures to identify and rectify errors or inconsistencies.
- Coordinate with design and construction teams to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
- Perform mapping/PLS-CADD tasks as required to complete projects.
- Update procedure documentation for Land Engineering processes, as needed.
- Ensure timely processing and completion of staking requests.

- This position will be done remotely.
Other Job Requirements:
- Approximately 15% travel requirements.
This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:
- Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license).
- Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
