Description
Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled work maintaining equipment and grounds at the City golf course including but not limited to doing irrigation related work as well as applying fertilizers and or pesticides. Employee is also responsible for performing technical work associated with the maintenance and repair of all equipment utilized by golf course maintenance workers. Work involves maintaining golf equipment and vehicles. Employee may also be responsible for assisting in course maintenance. Reports to the Golf Course Superintendent.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Operates light tractors, specialized mowing equipment and string trimmers; mows tee boxes, fairways, rough and greens, etc.
- Maintains and repairs all golf course equipment; grinds reels, performs ring jobs, replaces head gaskets, and cleans and rebuilds carburetors on engines; adjusts reels, belts, and chains on mowers; repairs and/or replaces tires.
- Greases, oils, sharpen blades, and perform various other preventive maintenance to ready equipment for use also backlaps reel.
- Maintain equipment and maintenance record books.
- Operates light tractors, specialized mowing equipment and string trimmers; mows tee boxes, fairways, rough and greens.
- Performs various ground maintenance duties including watering greens, raking sand traps, aerating greens, edging cart paths and sand traps, etc.; plants sod in bare spots on golf course, as instructed; prunes trees.
- Assists in setting up course by changing pin and tee placements; replaces tee towels; maintains golf ball washers.
- Polices golf course and grounds around clubhouse and pro shop, picking up papers, cans, bottles and other debris, as necessary.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs other related work as required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school and 1 to 2 years of experience in equipment repair and landscape maintenance work, preferably on a golf course; or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must obtain a valid Florida Drivers License.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including light tractors, golf carts, lawn mowers, string trimmers, rakes, shovels, pick axes, hand tools, etc. Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demand requirements are for Medium to Heavy Work.
