About the Role:

As an Intake Social Worker, you’ll be the first line of defense for children, elder/disabled adults and families in our community. You’ll gather crucial information from concerned callers, assess immediate safety risks, and determine the urgency of each situation. No two days will ever look the same, but every day you’ll know your work has impact.

Position Duties

What You’ll Do:

  • Answer and document calls to the child and adult protection hotline with accuracy, compassion, and professionalism.
  • Analyze information to determine whether a child or elder/disabled adult welfare response is warranted and at what level of urgency.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, schools, medical providers, service providers and community members.
  • Provide support and guidance to families navigating difficult circumstances.
  • Balance critical thinking with empathy, ensuring that children and elder/disabled adults remain at the center of every decision.

Skills & Abilities

Education & Experience:

We’re looking for someone with the right mix of education and hands-on experience! Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited school (Child Welfare Collaborative) plus one year of social work experience, or
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from an accredited school (Child Welfare Collaborative) with one year of social work or counseling experience, or
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from an accredited school and two years of social work or counseling experience, or
  • A Master’s degree in a related field of study from an accredited school, plus two years of social work or counseling experience, or
  • A four-year degree in Human Services or a related field with three years of social work or counseling experience, or
  • A Bachelor's degree and four years of experience in rehabilitation, pastoral counseling, or a related human services field, with expertise in casework, group work, or community organization.

Additional Requirements:

  • A certified college transcript and letter of reference will be required upon request.

Tech Skills:

  • You’ll need to be proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

License/Credentials:

A valid N.C. driver’s license is required for this role, along with a clean driving record that aligns with Alamance County’s policies.
