About the Department

This position is responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance in the administration of grant-funded initiatives for private, state, and federal grants.

Maintains and monitors a broad range of projects and grant procedures according to grantor expectations with funders and college personnel effectively. Assists in the implementation of projects according to the original grant submission; understands the appropriate ways to modify the project with the project staff and funder; follows grant expenditures and anticipates potential problems with expenditure schedules. 

Position Duties

A bachelor’s degree is required in higher education administration, finance, business, public policy/government, or a related field. A minimum of four years of post-award grant management experience is required. Master’s degree preferred. Grant Professional Certification, Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS), Project Management Professional (PMP), and/or Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification preferred. Experience working within higher education is preferred. 

Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field.  Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Coordinate a functional process within assigned College department or division.
  2. Monitor compliance with department policies and procedures.
  3. Maintain department records and files, as required.
  4. Serve as point of contact for internal and external organizations.
  5. Represent the College and/or department at events, as required.
  6. Prepare, analyze and provide reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requests.

Other Qualifications

  1. Oversee the initiation, implementation, and overall performance of externally funded grant projects, ensuring alignment with grant objectives and institutional priorities.
  2. Provide comprehensive support to grant project managers throughout the full lifecycle of each grant-funded project—from initial planning and kick-off meetings, through regular progress monitoring and implementation check-ins, to project closeout and final reporting—to ensure effective execution and compliance.
  3. Regularly inform institutional leadership of grant project activities, progress, outcomes, and any emerging challenges that may affect project performance or compliance.
  4. Coordinate with project managers to collect and validate program data required for reporting to external funding agencies and stakeholders.
  5. Access and submit narrative and performance reports to funders through designated online portals, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  6. Collaborate with post-award grant accountants in the Finance Department to track project expenditures and gather financial data required for reporting and compliance.
  7. Maintain a centralized system for storing grant reports, reporting deadlines, project outcomes, and external evaluations to support internal accountability and leadership decision-making.
  8. Serve as a liaison between project managers and funding agency representatives—including federal, state, and local government auditors—as well as private grant officers, to support site visits, audits, and funder communications.
  9. Stay current with updates and potential revisions to 2 CFR Part 200 (Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards) and apply changes as needed to maintain compliance.
  10. Maintain and regularly update the grants implementation manual and related project management tools to reflect changes in institutional policy, federal guidance, and best practices.
  11. Support the preparation of three periodic reports, as well as ad hoc or nonrecurring reports, to meet internal and external information needs.
  12. Coordinate sub-granting arrangements and partnerships, including execution of agreements, compliance monitoring, and data sharing.
  13. Initiate and manage grant modification or change requests in coordination with funding agencies, ensuring appropriate documentation and approvals are secured.
