Capstone is seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to help shape the future of our fast-growing PebbleGo Suite. In this role, you’ll use your ability to deeply empathize with users to design, enhance, and optimize the experience across Capstone’s digital products, websites, mobile apps, and internal tools.


You’ll collaborate with Product Design, Product Management, and Engineering to solve for viability, feasibility, and usability—ensuring our products are both intuitive and impactful. Building on Capstone’s trusted content, you’ll be a key contributor in creating engaging learning tools that empower teachers and inspire students. With your expertise in UX design and passion for education, you’ll help shape digital experiences that reach thousands of classrooms across the country.


Our preference is for this role to be hybrid, based out of either our Edina, MN or North Mankato, MN locations.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Design 

  • Lead UX/UI Design functions and deliverables for the product development teams from Discovery to Delivery (including but not limited to, Competitive Analysis, Usability Testing, Research Reports, Site Maps, Information Architecture Deliverables, User Flows, Wireframes, Interactive Prototypes, Visual Designs, UI Kits, Style Guides, and Developer Specs). 
  • Oversee implementation and maintenance of Capstone’s expanding Design System. 
  • Supplement production, animation, and front-end work as needed. 

Problem-Solving & Collaboration 

  • Identify and communicate UX problems and opportunity areas to maintain strong UX based on user feedback (Researching, Sketching, Prototyping, and User Testing).
  • Brings thought leadership to innovation and product strategy teams.
  • Manage design hand-offs and provide on-going support tasks for Software Development Teams in an Agile/SCRUM work environment. 
  • Work collaboratively with the Product Design team, Product Management team, and Software Development team to complete projects and accomplish UX goals. 
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX/UI problems (e.g., WCAG Compliance). 

Education, Experience and Skills desired: 

  • Graduate of an accredited school with a degree User Experience Design, Web Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or related field. 
  • 6+ years of professional design experience. 
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to design, prototype, and document using UX tools, e.g., Figma/FigJam, Adobe CC (Photoshop and Illustrator), Jira, Confluence, and a working Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of UX best practices to design solutions with a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design. 
  • A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, synthesizing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability, and accessibility concerns. 
  • Must be passionate about all things UX/UI with a heart for design and innovation. 
  • Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies—AI, Voice-First (VUI), AR/VR, etc. 
  • Experience in the K-5 EdTech space and/or working with K-5 students or teachers is a plus.
  • A background in Instructional Design and/or Educational Games is also a plus.
  • A working knowledge of Design & Innovation Frameworks – Lean UX, Design Thinking, GV Design Sprint, etc. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an innovate spirit is a must. 
  • Self-directed and able to work with little supervision. 
  • Creative, energetic, and eager to learn new projects and implement ideas. 

Travel Requirements

10-15% travel may be required.

The pay range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are surrounding compensation including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, work location, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $100,00-$110,000.
