The Director of Catering & Conference Services is responsible for leading the catering and conference service operations to ensure the successful planning, coordination, and execution of meetings, events, weddings, and social functions. This role requires a strong leader with a keen eye for detail, a commitment to service excellence, and the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships. The Director of Conference Services will work closely with Sales & Marketing, Food and Beverage, and Operations to ensure each event exceeds client expectations while meeting profitability goals.
Requested Tasks:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Catering & Conference Services team.
- Develop and implement departmental goals aligned with hotel sales and revenue targets.
- Coach, mentor, and manage a high-performing team; oversee recruitment, training, and development.
- Oversee the planning and execution of all group events, meetings, banquets, weddings, and conferences.
- Ensure all client needs and event logistics are clearly communicated and executed to standard.
- Collaborate with culinary and banquet teams to design menus and floorplans.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, event planners, and vendors.
- Resolve guest issues and ensure client satisfaction before, during, and after events.
- Maintain accurate records of contracts, event details, and billing.
- Ensure compliance with local health, safety, and alcohol service regulations.
- Participate in hotel leadership meetings and contribute to overall property strategy.
Requested Capabilities:
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in catering, conference services, or event management in a hotel or resort environment.
- At least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to manage multiple events simultaneously with attention to detail.
- Strong organizational, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in event management software (e.g., Marriott CITY or similar).
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
- Personable, professional and approachable personality
- Required to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
