The Behavioral Health Planning Analyst- Intake Specialist supports the Center for Behavioral Health (CBH) in the areas of clinical quality assurance/quality improvement, implementing best practice initiatives, value-based payment readiness, incident report management, and ensuring regulatory compliance.  This position assists with the intakes, referrals, and treatment plans for the mental health department and acts as collaborator and lead liaison for the medication-only program. This position works collaboratively with other CBH program leaders to develop meaningful clinical quality improvement-related activities for the CBH programs, utilizing Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles. This position reports to the Senior Behavioral Health Planning Analyst, who shall determine the responsibilities of this position. These responsibilities may be revised, as necessary, with proper notification and training provided, where appropriate. 


As part of the essential functions of the role, the Behavioral Health Planning Analyst- Intake Specialist:

  • Conducts clinical audits and utilization reviews, as required by operating regulations, and as assigned, in all CBH programs
  • Analyzes and professionally reports audit results in writing and verbally, as requested
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports trends related to clinical and other incidents in the CBH programs
  • Provides monthly reports to the behavioral health team to ensure caseload monitoring, risk management, and other tracking as directed by the Director of Behavioral Health Strategy  
  • Collaborates as needed with team members from the Compliance, Information Systems, Quality, Population Health, and other departments to ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks 
  • Assists the Director of Behavioral Health Strategy to monitor key performance indicators (KPI)
  • Facilitates the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinically-related quality assurance/continuous quality improvement initiatives across CBH programs
  • Facilitates group and individual training, as needed, to audiences of various sizes
  • Identifies and communicates changes in regulations related to CBH program operations to key stakeholders
  • Supports staff capacity-building activities that strengthen and support a positive Center for Behavioral Health environment
  • Participates in agency-wide committees and meetings, as required
  • Provides direct care/behavioral health services to patients, as needed, to ensure access to care and avoid service interruption
  • Adheres to program expectations and requirements surrounding productivity, documentation timelines and standards, and overall quality of patient care
  • Conducts initial psychosocial assessments and provides treatment recommendations, including the collaborative development of treatment plans in partnership with the patient and medication provider
  • Completes treatment plan updates and annual assessments per provider request and recommendation
  • Assists providers with referrals as requested


Required Education and Experience:

NYS behavioral health license conferring QHP status (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or RN) strongly preferred; candidates with a master’s degree in public health, Health Information/Data Informatics, or a related field considered; a minimum of two years direct experience working in a behavioral health setting required; clinical auditing, quality improvement, data analysis/reporting, and project management experience preferred
