General Definition of Work
Performs difficult skilled technical and administrative work managing the purchasing, maintenance, inventory, distribution, evaluation and issuance of the Fire Rescue Department, equipment, duty gear and uniforms and other duties as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Logistics Chief.

Essential Functions
Oversees maintenance of mobile and portable radios for the department and maintains accurate inventory.
Manages station inventory and equipment (household items, furniture, gear extractors, cascades machines).
Schedules and coordinates annual equipment testing for department Self Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBAs), and facepiece fit testing.
Schedules and coordinates annual equipment maintenance inspections and repairs for EMS equipment (stretchers, LUCAS, others).
Ensures that all fire apparatuses are properly equipped to respond to emergency situations to meet NFPA and ISO Standards.
Purchases and distributes uniforms (work and dress) and personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintains database of PPE according to NFPA requirements and maintains inventory control.
Provides logistical support at FIRE and EMS scenes as needed.
Negotiates best pricing as part of purchasing process. Manages bid process as required according to Department and County policy.
Coordinates and meets with vendors on new and existing product lines, fleet vehicles and packages.
Provides a high-level of confidentiality, ability to prioritize assignments and work independently.
Encourages and promotes effective working relationships with department employees, vendors, suppliers and the public.
Prepares and maintains files and records for the department; prepares reports.
Encourages and promotes a culture of excellent service.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic understanding of firefighting and EMS equipment and duty gear; ability to effectively manage projects, including maintenance of schedules and timetables, and preparation of reports on project status; ability to understand vendor pricing and check invoices for accuracy; ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to understand and apply governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, users and associates; required proficiency in standard office software with strong Excel skills.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED and considerable experience in fire equipment or other administrative support work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 lbs. and the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly of fabrication of parts within arm’s length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires working in wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, non-weather extreme cold or extreme heat; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

Valid driver’s license in the State of Georgia with a favorable driving history (MVR)
