Kitchen Aide na Easterseals

POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE  

Under the direction of the Site Manager, ensures a smooth and efficient operation of the child care center’s food program for the ultimate health, comfort, and benefit of the students. Ensures an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness in which students may be served nutritious meals.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Prepares all food for each classrooms on a daily basis. Determines the quantities of each food to be prepared daily. Determines the size of serving to meet the necessary requirements with regard to the ages of those served.

Assist in the classroom during bathroom and lunch breaks, ensuring classroom remains in ratio at all times.

Assist in the documentation of CACFP guidelines.

Assist in the preparation of materials, equipment, and information for the daily program, taking daily attendance and lunch count including reports for CACFP. 

Use appropriate food handling, sanitation and OSHA procedures at all times.

Follow QFO regulations.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL REQUIREMENTS, AND DESIRED ATTRIBUTES 

Knowledge of infant and toddler development. Knowledge of Early Childhood Education, School Readiness and Connecticut Early Learning and Development standards. Warm and nurturing personality. Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus. This position may be authorized to have access to protected Health Information (PHI) to perform specific job duties. Must be able to work in Pre-school classroom, possibly work with children with communicable diseases and disabilities. Outdoor playground (possibly without handicapped access). Personal qualifications as required in Part 407: Licensing Standards for Day Care Centers, emotional maturity, willingness to cooperate with the aims of the program, respect for children and adults, flexibility, patience, good personal hygiene, and physical and mental health which does not interfere with responsibilities. 

Familiarity with sanitary cleaning practices.

Ability to use cleaning supplies and equipment.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. 

EDUCATION 

High School Diploma or equivalent strongly preferred. 

EXPERIENCE 

Experience in a school kitchen/food preparation environment strongly preferred.
