Title: Solutions Engineer

Location: Remote with the US

Job Description: The Solution Engineering team at Transact is a team of technical sales professionals with a deep understanding of Client environments and needs as well as Transact solutions, including product, services, support, and market expertise. Solution engineers work with Account Executives, account managers, client success managers, product management/development and services professionals as strategic partners in crafting the long-term vision and the technical solution to address a client’s requirements.  The Solution Engineer plays a critical role in determining and articulating the solution being proposed and is paramount to the successful outcome of the sales process.

This individual has a strong technical and/or university business background who can articulate to our clients and prospects how our industry-leading technology can help simplify and elevate the student and administrative experience on campus.  You believe in our products and can demonstrate how they have a positive impact on higher education institutions. 

The Solution Engineer will play a broad sales support role in the overall success of the group.  Specifically, that individual will have the following responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert of Transact Payments products.
  • Engage in strategic conversations regarding Transact product capabilities and benefits with customers and prospects.
  • Identify and propose solutions to meet customer and prospect defined use cases.
  • Conduct periodic internal training sessions to keep the sales team updated on new product features and functions.
  • Work with Account Executives and Client Success/Account Managers to sell strategic product value, develop client-focused solutions, and document solutions in proposals
  • Develop proposals, both written and oral, for client-focused solutions
  • Provide rapid, accurate responses to questions from sales staff in the field
  • Assist with the creation of Sales quotes and SOWs for deal finalization.
  • Provide information and recommendations to assist with the development of responses to RFPs/RFIs.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and setup evaluation environments.  Oversee the evaluation process.
  • Assist with development of client-facing webinars and presentations for annual user conference, tradeshow opportunities and best-practices quarterly webinars.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Expect travel to be 25-50% with Client sales visits and conferences being the majority.

The Essentials:

  • Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or 3+ years relevant experience
  • Previous experience working in the Higher Education market in a business office or technical aspect preferred.
  • Previous enterprise software experience (2+ years preferable) campus systems, especially student and financial systems
  • A strong understanding of the technical infrastructure, deployment methodologies and cloud, SaaS, enterprise architectures for academic financial platforms, including student financials and general ledger is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, presentation, communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Demonstrated teamwork to be a high functioning individual or team member.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, decision-making and collaboration skills
  • A self-motivated, quick learner, who has a desire to win business 
  • Proven ability to manage time, multi-task and excel in a deadline-oriented environment while supporting several proposal projects simultaneously.
  • Software skill requirements:
    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
    • Online Collaborations tools – proficient with conducting online meetings using solutions such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity, or commissions.
