We are currently seeking a highly skilled Sr. GIS Data Engineer to join our Jacksonville office.

What You’ll Do:

In this role, you will lead the design, development, and management of enterprise-level geospatial data infrastructure. You’ll leverage your expertise in data engineering and GIS to build and optimize complex spatial data pipelines, turning raw location-based information into actionable insights and supporting mapping and analytics across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust, scalable geospatial data architectures and processing pipelines.
  • Develop and manage enterprise geodatabases, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and efficiency for spatial data storage and retrieval.
  • Design and execute advanced spatial analytics, geoprocessing, and modeling functions to derive actionable insights from geospatial data.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other engineers to integrate diverse spatial datasets from various sources, including CADD, satellite imagery, GPS, and surveys.
  • Write and maintain scripts using Python and other languages to automate workflows, ETL processes, and GIS functions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior GIS and data engineering staff, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver sophisticated capabilities and analytics.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and security for all geospatial datasets and processes.
  • Stay current with emerging GIS technologies and industry trends to research, evaluate, and recommend new tools and platforms.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience in data engineering, with a significant focus on geospatial data systems.
  • Expertise with GIS platforms, including the Esri suite (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) or open-source alternatives (QGIS, PostGIS).
  • US Citizenship required, due to the projects associated with this position.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation, analysis, and automation.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL tools and processes for integrating spatial and non-spatial datasets.
  • Experience with cloud-based geospatial data environments, such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
  • Strong understanding of geospatial data management principles, including coordinate systems, projections, and metadata.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with Federal contracts and data security requirements preferred.
  • Experience with big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks preferred.
  • Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (GIS Professional (GISP), Esri Technical) preferred.
